More than 5 desktop icons adds input lag

I recently discovered this when cleaning my desktop, once I had less than 5 shortcuts on my desktop, the cursor was INSTANTLY more responsive.
Something to do with how Windows shell handles icons, as soon as it has to cache more than 5 you will notice the difference.

Only time I've noticed lag on the Windows desktop is when I have to deal with family members PCs where they use the "everything on the desktop" method of saving/storing files, by which I mean 20GB+ of docs, pictures and downloads, all saved on the desktop.

I had the same issue, each time an ambulance car passed near my flat. But I fixed it by removing my left sock. Only the left. If I remove the right or both that only makes it worse. I think it has to do something with solar flares and red giants.
