That new plastic

I have this new monitor and want to keep it nice. Am I the only one that leaves the plastic on their new stuff to protect it longer? Or is this completely weird and I need to remove it?

I've seen tons of people do it on all kinds of devices, especially elderly people who don't even realize it is there. It collects dust pretty fast. You can use a good plastic protectant like 303, though I probably wouldn't put that on the screen itself.

What are you trying to protect it from? Unless you are carrying it around regularly, there isn't a lot of opportunities for it to get scratched up. The plastic just attracts dust and looks tacky in my opinion.

One of my coworkers used to do that. We started removing the plastic film for her. Once you've set up your hardware, it's time to remove it.

I've done it once. It was on the multi-segment display of a Digitech RP2000 (guitar effects pedal board). The plastic didn't really change the visibility when you standing 5-6 feet above the pedal board and that thing got beaten up getting carried to shows or practice.

Home electronics, the plastic always comes off. I've never damaged the finish on anything that just sits around the house and that plastic looks like crap.
