[TPU] AMD Fast-tracks 7nm "Navi" GPU to Late-2018 Alongside "Zen 2" CPU

Quote:
AMD's next major milestone is the introduction of our upcoming 7nm product portfolio, including the initial products with our second generation "Zen 2" CPU core and our new "Navi" GPU architecture. We have already taped out multiple 7nm products at TSMC, including our first 7nm GPU planned to launch later this year and our first 7nm server CPU that we plan to launch in 2019.

I really hope this is true. If it is as fast as a 1080TI. I would rather have this than pay £1300 for more Nvidia shizzle. That isn't AMD fanboyism; it is more a distaste for Nvidia. I just feel the latest price tag has moved into a very slippery slope area.

If it were a little faster than the 1080ti, and they could even paper launch it before widespread availability of the 2000 series, Nvidia RTX would be cut off at the knees.
RTX looks great, doesn't run well. PhysX runs great, hardly ever implemented. I think AMD could make a lot of money offering a product that otherwise wouldn't sell well (a slight improvement on a 1.5 yr old flagship) because of what is going on with their competitor's product.

This is what i first read months back. Can workstation & gaming not be released simultaneously? 'Fast track', so no longer 2h 2019 (gaming)?!

Bad article, read the source

"I look forward to providing more details on those innovations as we prepare to introduce the industry’s first 7nm GPU later this year and our first 7nm CPUs next year."

so we will see 7nm CPUs next year

"We have already taped out multiple 7nm products at TSMC, including our first 7nm GPU planned to launch later this year and our first 7nm server CPU that we plan to launch in 2019"

It does NOT say Navi, it will 99% be the Instinct Vega

What a terrible click-bait title. Nothing has been fast-tracked, and we still don't have any more accurate timetable for Navi or Zen 2 than "2019 or later". AMD's GPU efforts seem exceedingly poor these days, so I wouldn't be surprised if Navi ended up being another dud that comes late and changes nothing.

TPU claims the source is an AMD press release. Could be a sneaky way to slow preorders, but I don't see your source anywhere.
