[Tom's Hardware] AMD Files to Trademark What Looks Like a Vega 2 Logo

Source: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/am...ogo,38225.html

Quote:
AMD has applied for a trademark covering what many assume is a logo for Vega 2 graphics. The new mark closely remembers Vega's existing logo, which is essentially just a stylized "V," but with the right side modified to look like the Roman numeral "II." (Or, as the company described it in the trademark application, "a smaller triangle and four alternating light and dark horizontal stripes.") The implication is clear.
Hope this is true! No reason why AMD wouldn't take this opportunity to take over the high end. nVidia is bundling Tensor hardware in their so called gaming cards and expecting gamers to pay the extra fee for the underutilized hardware.

Hm... If Navi is coming too... Are we going to get a split in professional graphics and gaming graphics? Vega II being enterprise & Navi being gaming?

Vega 20 is already out for professional Instinct Mi60 7nm. AMD wasn't going to release Vega 20 for gamers since they claimed we couldn't afford it. They probably saw the price of nVidia's 20 series and noticed they have them priced way too high for gamers and it would be a perfect time to release a high end gaming card.

Now, the relevant question is: can they nail the 2080-2080ti gap without pricing their cards as highly as nVidia (and in a timely fashion, preferably)?

Navi10 is supposed to be ~$250 with Vega64 performance. Possible that Vega2 is going to come in at ~$1000 just like the first Vega offering.

I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and I went ahead anyway.

If it's not coming out for the PC, it's dead to me.

How about this ... 2 Vegas ;P

Can't say it couldn't happen.

They have been messing around with chiplets and already have a significant hardware scheduler.

Maybe they finally got a mgpu configuration to go software independent. A seperate scheduler with hbm and the rest on chiplets.

We've been down this road before, but it would be pretty nice. Just hope I can sell my 1080tis in time if it happens.

I think was already discussed where AMD has do make it invisible to the game dev but I am sure they will use chiplets for Profesional cards.
