Seriously tho, some gamers that are also chip makers, need to start a new company now, before it's only nviaida left making gaming GPUs
In economics we refer to the problem as high barriers to entry. It's not just that "oh we have a great idea for gaming GPUs" it's the cost of entering the market. First you have to contract with a foundry. If you understood the R and D and contract costs alone you'd understand why only AMD and Nvidia are left in the game. It costs a LOT of money to enter into the GPU production and sales arena. I'd say minimum today it's 1 billion dollars before you even sell a single graphics card.
Until Ryzen came out and knocked a home run I had been a strong advocate for Samsung to take over AMD (buy them outright actually) because they have the R and D and facilities to really compete with Nvidia. I can't believe I'm THANKFUL that Intel is going to enter the market. They also have some R and D dollars so they could be competitive.
I think Sapphires are the original ones- no?
Edit: Pay attention to PSU recommendation:
Vega 64: 750 Watt Power Supply (Suggestion)
Radeon 7: 650 Watt Power Supply (Suggestion)
take ANY aib's psu recommendation with a grain of salt. it's more of "what will cover everything." that includes a HEDT system that can draw 100-150 watts more than a mainstream platform. sure, it could mean that AMD voltage tuned better for less power draw OR the AIB realized their recommendation(s) were more robust than necessary.
i'd suggest holding off until the cards are in hand getting properly abused first. it is a nice thought nonetheless.

Why becasue they're selling something that was otherwise worthless? Vega was the same way more or less.
Or becasue they haven't launched Navi yet? Why rush to get it out to PC games when Sony will be the one with the big bucks?
Furthermore how is the Vega7 (leftover purpose made dies) levels of performance not high end? Is it only high end when it's the fastest gaming GPU made?
Why do people expect AMD to do everything all at once?
They must make competitive CPUs when Intel has 1000x the capitol and they must make competitive on the high end that also cost less than Nvidia's GPUs when Nvidia also has much more capitol.
The expectations some of you guys have are just ludicrous. Make your own components if there are none made that tickle your pickle, become a millionaire.
