I doubt they will use SSD's. It will drag the price up too much (we need at least 1TB) and the improvement in games will be pretty much none.

I have an 1TB MX500 in my PS4 Pro and loading times are good, UI less choppy but performance is the same.
They should make SSD an option tho, and keep a base model with HDD/SSHD.

Actually I'm hoping to see base and "Pro models" at launch this time. Beefier hardware, better cooling and SSD in the more expensive ones.

There's a slight difference there.

$600 in 2006 is $750 today. Not to mention the PS3 sold incredibly quickly at launch. The PS3 was a "total failure" because Sony was selling it at a loss and they only broke even with it 4 years after initial release.

You are right. I remember PS3 was sold out pretty much everywhere around launch despite the "high" pricetag!

IIRC the PS3 had a more powerful CPU than the PS4. At launch it was basically a high end PC.

I'm looking forward to it. Have been fairly impressed with the one x though it's clear it's being held back by those janky jaguar cores. Can't wait to see what they can do with Zen in there. I'll let them iron out issues before picking one up but I will be getting one.

I'm looking forward to the new high-end Xbox. GPUs have been getting way too expensive, Xbox officially supports mouse and keyboard. Soon there will be almost no reason to have a PC for gaming. Lol, maybe the PCs will eventually be the low end of the spectrum for gaming. Very few can afford to build a 4k gaming rig, while nearly everyone can afford Xbox One X on sale for $350.

However, I expect the high-end Xbox to launch at $700-800 considering such high GPU prices.

It was not more powerful than PS4's CPU. It was powerful at the time of release, compared to PC. Also it's hard to emulate code made for PS3 on current x86 because of Cell CPU arch.

Please don't compare the Xbox One X to a high-end gaming PC.. I can name tons of reasons to still own a PC.

I tried Metro Exodus on Xbox One X last week. Looked decent but ran like pure crap, 30 fps with dips and horrible motion blur. Ruined the game completely. They are pushing for IQ too much.

With Zen + Navi we might actually see 60 fps solid (minimum / Hoping for proper VRR support). So yeah for some people a gaming PC won't be needed.

I'll be getting PS5 over Xbox tho. I can play the Xbox Exclusives on my PC if Microsoft will release anything good this time. Hoping for a new Fable game.

Ya got me curious so I went to double check on it.

PS3 CPU: 230.4 GFLOPS single point

PS4 CPU: 102.4 GFLOPS single point

So at least in pure compute, the PS3 was indeed much more powerful on the CPU side than the PS4

CPU - Custom 8 Cores (16 zen threads 2)
If a console with a really slow Jaguar 8-core produced PC ports with a CPU requirement of about an i5 2500 or better, what kind of general CPU requirement is that going to produce?

Can anyone explain to me why MSI needs our laptops back on top of the wholesale price they're already more or less recouping from us with their GT72(s)/GT80(s) trade in program? MSI isn't a company you can trust!
