If people stopped attributing Jim Keller mystic powers that would be great.

I see nothing specifically mentioned about working on ARM or x86 for Intel, however given that Intel designs x86 processors I would expect he is working on x86 architectures:

Would it? Kinda feels like it wouldn't change anything.

From the article:

"As for performance I've heard that we are looking at it easily beating the Radeon RX Vega 64 and coming close to the RTX 2080"

I will believe it when I see it. I highly doubt AMD will be releasing a mid range GPU that rivals their $700 card.

I think performance will be closer to 2070, but in some games like Doom maybe can touch 2080, we'll see it on E3. I like the AMD silence, for older products like Vega and Polaris they've tried to hype the crowd, and final products did not meet the hype expectations.

Realistically, it looks to be all low/mid range cards. Vega 7 already fills the 2080 slot. A very long shot would be a 2080ti competitor, but that would totaly underwhelm their lower-end cards announcement, which i dont believe AMD would likely do.

RTX2080 performance only? That's only as fast as a GTX1080ti....Why would anyone wait, unless they're offering it hundreds of dollars less than AMD?

"Only"? What's wrong with that? The only thing faster is the 2080Ti, and look how much that costs. AMD has tried playing the fastest gaming card multiple times, and it didn't pan out for them. The R9 290X beat their titan at much cheaper prices, and still barely anyone bought it in comparison to how many nVidia cards people buy.

AMD is going to focus on "mainstream" prices first. That used to be $200-$300 during the Polaris days. Maybe now that's $400-$500. We'll see. But the top end will come later. But I doubt they would be incapable of beating out their own Radeon VII, which is currently in 1080Ti/2080 territory.

AMD's VII is basically a RTX2080 already, as you said. That's where "only RTX2080 performance" came from.
