That's the reason why this article exists. Threadripper was on the slide previously.

It's a slide, nothing more. Those business dies are their main focus, they will make their way to consumer/regular people platform as well.
They will unlikely launch Ryzen+Threadripper and Navi at the same time, duh.

No one said they were planning to release them at the same time but they were expected the same year. Now they're off of AMD's 2019 roadmap.

As far as desktop requirements go, these were long cut over. Cards these days use 16x (Turing can saturate it), NVMe drives...

Switches and lane splitting are pretty common. The chipset does this as a standard feature.

...AMD may very well take a 'wait-and-see' attitude w/ TR3. If Ryzen 3000 does offer 8c, 10c (?), 12c (?) and 16c (?) - even w/ dual rather than quad channel RAM, that gives them plenty of ammo re. Intel's upcoming activities.

I do believe TR3 will eventually come to market, hopefully with 16c, 32c and perhaps even 64c (w/ 7nm, power consumption on top end-VRM equipped boards should be ok), but if AMD created itself the option to cover the mainstream market off w/up to 16c via Ryzen 3000, they are in a pretty sweet spot to release TR3 if/when they need it for Intel's next HEDT offerings. As I posted before, 'game theory' among duopolists...

Oh boy, 64 cores is server territory. I like that idea.

In reality AMD will do what they see as necessary to increase profits. So that's a strong argument that the HEDT line isn't going away.

Oh, it does say in a pretty big font size that this is a 2019 roadmap. Maybe this means TR2 won't be ready until 2020.

Navi + Epyc + Zen2. They have enough products to launch this year.

Client lineup doesn't hold the same weight as Roadmap. The official roadmaps get posted separately on http://ir.amd.com/events-and-presentations/past-events which you can see the most recent one is from Jan 12, 2018 and doesn't cover the zen2 breakdown. It is kind of hard to drop a product from a roadmap it was never on. With this "lineup" being only for 2019 and epyc not coming until q3 its possible ripper is just a 2020 product.

edit: Also threadripper falls under the ryzen umbrella in the previous roadmap so may be doing to again with this slide.
