[Hexus] AMD Radeon RX 3080 XT will rival Nvidia RTX 2070

https://hexus.net/tech/news/graphics...idia-rtx-2070/

Quote:
One of the more interesting facets of this Radeon RX 3080 XT rumour concerns the pricing. In recent years gamers and enthusiasts have felt financial pain as low-, mid- and high-end graphics card pricing bands seem to have risen out of step (not helped by the crypto-craziness last year) with previous generations. The rumours suggest that the AMD Radeon RX 3080 XT will rival the GeForce RTX 2070 but will be priced at just US$330 - which should make a big impact, and perhaps even spark a price war. As a reminder, the RTX 2070 Founders Edition has an MSRP of US$599.

The flagship AMD Navi graphics card for consumers, the Radeon RX 3090 XT, won't be available until 2020, it is claimed. Based upon the 7nm Navi 20 GPU, this card is said to come packing 64CUs and will feature up to 16GB of GDDR6. Expect to pay US$499 for the Radeon RX 3090 XT, and for that fee it will deliver approx 10 per cent faster performance than the AMD Radeon VII, says the source.

I'm surprised no one post this yet, but yeah I am wondering how much is 10% boost over Radeon 7, would that safely put it above RTX 2080?

Interesting. Looks like it's going to be launched around the same time as Ryzen 3000. Might make for a potent & excellent value combo to pair one of these with an R5 3700X.

The VII already is in 2080 territory, how is 10% faster now in 2070 territory? V64 is already close enough to that. Might explain the recent < $300 Vega 56's though.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/...660_Ti/28.html

The VII is closer to a FE 2070 than it is to a FE 2080. Around 7% faster than the 2070, 2080 is around 12% faster than the VII, and custom 2070s probably bridge that gap easily. The article says the 3090 will be 10% faster than the VII, which puts it right at the 2080.

Now this may be semantics, but at 4k, where anybody reasonable would be using gpu's of this caliber, it's 15% away from the 2080 and 18% away from the 2070 (using tpu, that is). "Custom 2070's".... yea if you don't include the fact that the VII can be oc'ed as well.

I have a 1080TI for my main rig and i wouldn't use it to run most AAA games at 4k. I tried some and I would say the performance just isn't there yet, 1440p seems like its sweet spot for a hitchless experience. In fact from the TUP Radeon VII review
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/...eon_VII/7.html I would say like half the games fall under 60FPS on average, and I'm certain the mins will be pretty bad too. Also, custom 2070s can be overclocked further.

Will be disappointing if the RX 3090 will be the flagship next year. If it's not it's safe to assume a $700-$1000 flag ship. Was really looking forward to next generation after GCN for 2020.

Works for me and it looks like 2020 is when I will get an all new AMD gaming rig with a 16 core Zen 2 and an RX 3090XT.

I was hoping Navi 20 would launch this year but the wait will serve me well as any CPU and mobo teething issues should be resolved by the time Navi 20 comes out.
