They did talk about it, just to say that they don't have much to add for now.

See below, starting at 8:43:

At 9:49 you can see a slide where they admit that only with Navi 2.0 will they have ray tracing hardware to allow for "Select Lighting Effects for Real Time Gaming", that will debut with the next Xbox console and probably the PS5 too. Steve says that on the discrete side it will be on 7nm+ (aka 7nm EUV), for late 2020 or 2021.

that is not the AMD live stream. i heard lisa say "raytracing" once.

Oh yes, they didn't talk details during the livestream, just at the technical press events. It was technically during E3, so the article title and content stands (including Lisa Su's words on the matter in the article).

i understand, but i am highly disappointed.

however, i will insist the article is talking about the live stream not the press event.

Quote:
AMD's presentation at the start of E3 will be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook June 10th, 3pm PDT, which in Amsterdam (CEST) is spot on midnight on the night of June 10 to June 11. We'll be live streaming the event from our front page should you be interested.

I was expecting it to turn out exactly as it did after reading the marketing speak in the article, and even before that I wasn't really expecting anything for a year or so, but what I'm really disappointed about is the price of these cards. It seems like they are piggybacking on the enthusiasm for Zen 2. I'm not enthusiastic about these at all. Not having ray tracing hardware for now would be pretty much ok in my book if they had priced these things properly. They didn't. It's a fail in my book.

Edit: That's just mentioning the main presentation at the end of the article, but the rest doesn't imply that necessarily. E3 is a big event, there's a lot going on.

Being the cheap "brand" got AMD nowhere.

maybe read guru3d's source:
https://www.computerbase.de/2019-06/...acing-e3-2019/
Quote:
On Monday, AMD will use the E3 2019 to talk about raytracing among others at the AMD Next Horizon Gaming event . So far, it is not publicly known which strategy AMD pursues in real-time raytracing in games.
Quote:
Cotter confirmed that the E3 event will also be about Raytracing's AMD plans. Her boss, Lisa Su, in an interview with PC World , had evasively responded to the question of whether Raytracing will be part of the RDNA architecture and referred to more details on E3, while emphasizing that AMD considers the topic very important and is working on it: " We're definitely working on ray tracing. That's true. But like I said, we'll give you more roadmap at E3. "
pretty sure google translate works.

Let's see where this strategy gets them. Also, the Radeon VII is not exactly cheap.

pretty sure google translate works.

Fair enough. I actually had to go read Seeking Alpha (the source of the source of the source), to cross-check because the transcript of what she said doesn't match, which is weird. Guru3D omits the important bit in bold below. But Computer Base also doesn't have the thing proper. I'm guessing that the transcript was updated several times and Computer Base caught one of the updates and Guru3D copied from Computer Base's v1 of the article.

neither here nor there, i remember a long time ago dave letterman on the late show used 4 or 5 translators from the UN to translate a beatles song through several languages and back to english.

the end result was nothing like the original.

back on topic:
i would have been some what satisfied if they had used a 5700XT in place of the V54 in ray tracing demo (vulkan?) that was posted a month or so ago. i can understand trying to garner more interest in the live stream but . . (sigh)
