2080ti vs rtx titan
I think they didn't read the article (and the OP needs to update their text quotes to reflect that).

Really not understanding the move from nV (vram seems like it is going to be more and more important going forward [4K textures]), I'd rather have the 11gb 2080ti vs the 8gb 2080 super; even if the super can be overclocked like crazy.

This might actually get interesting. If they release something with 2080ti performance for 2080 prices there are going to be a few upset customers, but history has shown that NV doesn't really mind doing that. People who paid $1200 (or more, like those who bought the recently released kingpin.... ouchy) for a 2080ti will surely be a bit frustrated, but if the new one is good they will probably still buy it. It's only money.

I would have to bow to nVidia if a 2080 super is basically an equivalent of the 2080ti.

I hate that, but it is what it is until AMD releases a competitive HALO product.

Ahh, they are gonna just take the 2080ti chips and slap them onto the 2080 boards with the same controllers and 8gb of memory on it.

2080ti is the TU102 chip, the super 2080 has the same TU104 chip

the 2080 did have 2? SMs disabled previously - nothing is the same as the 2080ti. this might help:

That might not be a bad thing, I never get close to using up 11gb at 1440p or 4k.

3072 CUDA cores isn't RTX 2080 Ti level. I think that's incorrect. RTX 2080 Ti has 4352 CUDA cores, a 3072 CUDA core RTX 2080 Super would need to perform miracle +40% clocks or something unless whatever you're playing / using it for doesn't scale with CUDA cores whatsoever.

RX 2070 has 2304 CUDA cores so bumping it up to 2560 for Super version would be ~10% and put it closer to RTX 2080 which had 2944 if it can overclock well.

RTX 2080 Super is a ~ 5% bump in CUDA cores (2944 to 3072).

Lastly, but not least is the upgrade to RTX 2060 to include 8GB VRAM (which likely entails a memory bus increase to 256-bit). Going from 1920 CUDA to 2176 is ~13% so clearly Navi RX 5700 put pressure there .This is by far the biggest upgrade in the entire stack.

Everyone must have saw this coming as RTX 2070 was TU106.

no wonder nvidia gets away w/playing the shell game with their cards/chips. people assume too damn much.

Oh, I misunderstood. I was thinking the same thing as DNMock, 2080ti chip being sold as a 2080 super.
