According to these sources, prices of 9th generation Core processors could be cut by a minimum of 10 percent, and a maximum of 15 percent, varying by SKUs. This could see prices of popular gaming/enthusiast SKUs such as the Core i9-9900K, the i7-9700K, and the i5-9600K, drop by anywhere between $25 to $75.
Sounds like a rumor not an official response from Intel.
All good ideas. If intel drops its prices to below AMD prices (including there hedt and server cpus) they can probably retain users. People will take the security risks with there cpu's if they know they can save a lot of money.
I am one that finally made the switch with the 2700x. Intel lost me with the 9900k's price, I got the 2700x, motherboard, and ram for less than the selling price of the 9900k at the time. It's come down $125 or so since then and I have had to buy multiple ram kits with this damn 2700x, but I think I'm still less money into it than I would have been with the 9900k.
At this point, Intel users are going to switch to AMD. Hopefully some of us become loyal to AMD forever but i doubt it. Intel woken up already and only time till they come with something completely new that will tempt us to switch back.
If they bring something to the table that's better (price/performance) I would switch back. I'm not mad at them for offering something I didn't want to buy, I just went and found something I did want to buy.
