I was hoping someone would bring this up. Apple gets significant discounts for its massive production volumes.

6k for a laptop what a joke.
No it won't. And there is no 6K laptop. That is a desktop. No idea what you are smoking, but seems like a bad batch.

But you are not OEM nor apple.
So you as the end consumer, either buy a computer from OEM or apple (which most companies do, and they pay less as they buy several and get a discount), or pay more for individual parts.
Considering you can't compare yourself as OEM to apple, you have to compare yourself as an end consumer to apple, in which case, buying a mac pro from apple, will cost you less than the individual parts (for now).

$100, says I can put together a more powerful system than the mac pro for less using nothing but amazon and newegg...

Obviously they can source the parts for cheaper, but the mark-up Apple does is massive. I mean they have like 700 billion in liquid assets or something stupid, and they sure as heck haven't gotten to those numbers through sheer bulk of sales so....

In fact, the Dell does let you configure a Quadro RTX 6000 into that but that will push the price up to $9680. You could argue that you could build it yourself and save money, but the target market for both the Mac Pro and this Dell don't build computers themselves. These computers are workstations. Not facebook machines or gaming desktops.
Yup, realize that, not sure that needed to be said As for arguing about building one yourself, I won't (argue); after all, this is Overclock.net

Of course you can. It's a pre-built workstation. The consumer equivalent CPU and GPU that the base model Mac Pro uses combined costs $800. Throw in another $400 or so for all of the other parts needed and there you go. As powerful for roughly $1200. If you don't want to use the consumer equivalent but rather use the same parts, then it will still be cheaper. At the end of the day, the Mac Pro is a pre-built. Apple (and any other workstation manufacturer) is a business, not a charity. They aren't going to sell their hardware at cost.

Plenty of places to purchase Xeon-W workstations for cheaper than the Mac Pro. System76, Thinkmate are a few I can think of. People buying a Mac Pro are using Final Cut Pro. Let's also not forget it has Apple’s impressive custom Afterburner ASIC card.

That's a lovely ignorant view on what this is and it clearly shows you didn't even read past half of the title.

I find it hilarious you didn't even know it's a desktop.

Nice back-peddling and trying to cover for your own mistake. I don't think spec'ing out the laptop with every single thing you can, including professional software, counts as a $6000 MSRP of that line of product.
