If this is true it would make navi far more interesting.

5700xt against the 2060 super
5700 against 2060 non super.

This would be a spot based of leaked benchmarks, that navi could do much much better.

Though it leaves the 2070super and above in a no competition space sadly till other navi cards show up.

Nvidia can lower the prices of the Super lineup too, it only launches on the 9th, two days after AMD's. It will be the two day rule. AMD lowers the prices two days after learning of the RTX Super prices and performance and then Nvidia does the same but has the last word. What is AMD going to do then with the cards on the shelves?
Lower prices again?

AMD was hoping for huge margins, bigger then Nvidias. A price war means thats obviously not happening. But at the end of the day it still costs them less to have each 5700 chip made then it does for Nvidia to make a even a 2060 super. And they have more headroom to drop prices then Nvidia does before investors start screaming about tanking margins.

A full on price war is not a war Nvidia can win when you are pitting 445mm chips against 251mm chips.

A 12nm wafer cost around $6000 while a 7nm wafer cost $15000.

Just like Jensen said they use the most affordable technology.

If you've seen the leaked benches then you know something is way off the wolfenstein numbers. AMD should dominate vulkan, but they show the other way around and it seems to be a very odd outlyer. DX12 is advantage for RTX (about 5 frames @ 1440p), but DX11 (majority of games) 2080S and 5700 XT are even. 5700XT is direct competitor to 2070S for $100 less if these price drops are legit. The vulkan numbers are so off, im still holding any real judgement till reviews are out.

Jensen will be running out of contract work for you soon if there margins drop too low. Job security for you could be in jeopardy.

Lucky you still have intel though.

I considered anything in rumour section as speculation and that's all we are really discussing here is speculation.

But 100% agree solid judgment should be passed once we have legit reviews.

A 7nm wafer cost 15,000 back during risk production. Its down about $10000 a wafer now. And AMD is getting double the chips per wafer Nvidia is.

Thanks, we still have to account for defects which is more likely to happen on 7nm wafers. AMD still won't be recycling those dies until much further in the future. While nVidia just makes new skus with those left over dies.

More, for the first month the only Navi cards you'll be able to buy are blower reference cards. Meanwhile, all the AIBs have to do with the Nvidia cards is take their existing custom RTX 2070 and 2080 PCB's and coolers, put in the new chips and print new outer boxes with RTX 2060 Super and 2070 Super branding. Day one availability.
I agree, I believe this is a reaction to Nvidia instead of something that was planned. Either way, maybe they will both keep reacting to each other with price drops and midrange card prices will be back like they should be.

I hope something good comes from all this back and forth though. I don’t have a card right now, so I will get something. I sold my 1080ti over a month ago.

I have a big bang house. I had all the materials for my new house brought in and dumped on a vacant lot. I took a stick of dynamite, lit the fuse on fire and tossed it into the pile of materials. BOOM went the explosion and when the dust settled I had a new house! Amazing isn't it?
