[Xanxo]Ryzen 3000 - Bios boost Problems

QUOTE:
"Driver level errors associated with either the PCI Express bus and/or Nvidia GPUs may have prevented the chips from boosting properly - which was interesting because several reviewers today commented on not hitting advertised boosts. The author observed this behavior on both Gigabyte and MSI boards but only with Nvidia cards and at least for their own work decided it was sufficient enough to warrant not publishing any FPS benchmarks until sorted out."

"This is huge dude, he said he got boost to 4.65 GHz with the older 1.0.0.2 bios, even though PBO did not work on that BIOS. The newer 1.0.0.2 (NPRP press code) & 1.0.0.3AB BIOS were limiting his boost to 4.35 GHz

The driver WHEA errors seem to be unrelated and are a nVidia specific problem. They are probably still causing slowdown in benchmarks."

Sadly this is damaging as initial benchmarks often stick in peoples mind and any later performance fixes become irrelevant.

Saw that in the HU review but the commentator also pointed out that the mobo Bios was at fault. From what's seen on HU could not even go beyond 4.3GHz. Teething problems and best to wait if you intend on a purchase.

PSA: Ryzen 3000 Gaming Performance is being gimped by MB bios issues. Explains inability to reach advertised boosts.

the whea errors are being reported by Radeon owners too, its probably a platform issue with the current bios, since AMD are scrambling to patch something that breaks Destiny 2, it might all clear up by itself following that.

Don't follow garbage reddit threads. Max Boost Clock is only applied to 1 core not all cores. People are too spoiled by Intel's motherboard manufacturers abusing MCE since Ivy Bridge. Even the 8700k and 9900k are still being abused by MCE.

8700K: 1 Core: 4.7 / 2 Core: 4.6 / 3 Core: 4.5 / 4 & 5 Core: 4.4 / 6 core: 4.3

That Destiny 2 issue was fixed 2 or 3 days ago and the bios update was provided to motherboard manufacturers.

The whea errors related to nvme? It happens to intel too. Aso. it is the game that's being patched or worked on.

They will fix the issues after users aka free bug testers report issues. Sad but it's what it is with giant corporations these days, why pay for testing and debugging properly when customers will do it for you.

Intel CPUs max out at base clocks under full load, those 1-n thread turbo clocks get ignored when load is high enough. You put the hell onto stock Intel CPUs and they go straight down to base clock unless you're OCing it with messed up UEFI automatically or by yourself. Of course there are not many applications and use cases when this happens but it does exist. People think oh no Prime95 is the highest load, dream on, far from it.
