Oh and by the way, I hear Nvidia and Intel are teaming up to introduce a new resolution standard called "backwards engineered graphics" featuring 240x120 @over 1000 FPS on all titles. You should be thrilled!!
No Intel and AMD are teaming up to make a new interconnect to compete with NVLink.

1920x1080 is FHD or "2K".
1280x720 is HD.

VGA as a connection standard could not handle 2560x1440, let alone 3840x2160, and while CRTs do not have a "native" resolution, not being able to produce every pixel every frame independently would make them incapable of projecting the requested image.

CRTs also do not have infinite bit depth because their controllers and connection standards do not, regardless of what is theoretical.

I had a Trinitron that could do [email protected] It could not produce [email protected]
Yes sorry. Thank you for the corrections.

Apologies, he meant to say he is a [email protected] gamer.

What games, of course, are unspecified, so they may be brought up only after research into what is the hardest leaning to the blue side.

I mean do you want to keep making snide remarks behind people's backs or talk to them like a human being? Here I'll mention one of the persons you might be referring to: @CallsignVega

I read the thread you're talking about and it's pretty obvious that he was talking about the objective highest performing potential CPU for modern games at the moment. Regardless of whether it was 10, 5 or even 1% faster across the board. It was faster. And most people didn't seem to understand that and tried to bring in other variables or factors into the equation when they were purposefully stated as being excluded for reasons of isolating pure peak performance in gaming only. It then devolved into either side trying to get one another to understand their argument/reasoning.

Oh please. The exact post that started it all was:

If you want to start an actual discourse, then don't use intentionally inflammatory language and others will respond in kind. If you're just looking to troll, then don't be surprised if you receive nothing but snark in return.

Is that who they're ragging on? Financial, his decisions are beyond insane. Unless you have heaps of money and are after the best possible performance. Which appears to be the case with him. With that in mind, why make fun of him. Isn't the motto of this site: the pursuit of performance? It's not your money, let him spend it.

If you've read that thread, you'll see that not a single person has said anything about his financial decisions. All criticisms were directed squarely at the hyperbolic and troll-ish initial comment.

CRT's did have some advantages. 0 ms response times, no "Glow" or "backlight bleading" and better viewing angles.

And this never happened on a CRT.

Cool I guess, but CRTs used VGA and maybe DVI-A, and not DL-DVI-D, so I'm not certain on the point you are trying to make. Digital signal would be an issue for a monitor with no controller card to interpret the packets, yea?

Bad video compression didn't happen on CRTs?

I think you are blowing this waaaay out of proportion. While I appreciate your gallance (gallancy? whatever, you get it) - for it may seem like that - I don't think any of us is actually talking behind his back in that sense. For one, this thread and its posts are all public; second, and as has been said already, they are all a jab at his post's wording and overexaggeration.
All of us forum users who know CallsignVega's builds and usage can understand why his post has zero sanity value (even considering the resolution he plays at alone), and therefore joke about it. It's not happening here, in this thread, exclusively (read: behind his back).
