Black Friday has some Intel 10nm showing up. But not for desktop
I currently have no use for a low power/decent performance laptop, but the HP's look like good deals : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/stor...g6mi1wggj9e100

Also, check out the low core pre throttle performance out of this Surface tablet with a 10nm: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/22114831

According to a few people i've spoken to someone at least said something similar to this at the start of this year.

I figure 10nm will be a limited run at this point, in whatever form it shows up in, and intel will do everything possible to fast track 7nm. Lisa isn't allowed to win for very long. Hell hath no fury like a sleepy over grown corporation in pruning and tuning mode. Then of course, we'll get all the silly self ego stroking marketing after they come back on top. Along with the oh so loved epic intel tax factor. entire fleets of yachts are expensive to maintain.

You mean 2022 probably. They need a new architecture, at best chiplet and 7nm or better. Their 10nm is a bust for a long time, no matter how much they try to lie to shareholders. The Core arch is done for and full of exploits that make it get slower and slower the more they try to brute force ix it despite knowing about some of these issues since 1992, long before Core arch. but it's based on the old Pentium and the issues continued. 2006 to now is all Core, that's a long long time for CPU arch and it can only be tweaked and barely refined year over year for so long.

Everything since about 6000 series Skylake is an almost copy paste from Intel. They are probably cooking something though they as well may not have been for as long as they've been copy pasting the CPU design.

yeah, Intel RECENTLY just said 7nm was 2 years out. it's November 2019, +2 gets us to November 2021, chances are it will be delayed since it's a new node, so 2022 seems reasonable, probably late 2022

Intel just announced they will be using Samsung fab for their future 7nm/10nm desktop parts, so if you still think Intel's 10nm process will ever see a desktop think again.

Intel didn't announce anything: https://www.techpowerup.com/261641/s...der-from-intel

Quote:
Samsung has reportedly secured a "PC CPU" manufacturing order from Intel.
Just another rumor just like the OP.

Intel already responded saying that is inaccurate.

Quote:
The letter from last week says we will increase our use of foundry so we can build more CPUs at Intel. The news reports about our use of third party foundries for CPUs are inaccurate.

Honestly Intel has more runway to burn then just about any.

The astounding thing really isn't AMD. It's TSMC and their ability to churn out these nodes. That used to be entirely the domain of Intel. I mean they were really pushing things forward for quite a long time on their own and everyone else was catching up.

I don't say this to downplay AMD. I have a 3900x in my own system but TSMC has been the key to AMD's success.
