I see them drawing a line, not pushing past it. That just hurts their next release. All they've gotta do is pull up next to NV for now, at a lower price point.

Indeed. All I want is a worthy successor to my 1080ti.

Yep. Once again, AMD just needs to get close. For the moment, they're fine with Green having the crown. Gud PR when you're considered the cheaper gaming option. Pricing should be very interesting here. Assuming the same performance: 2080S=$700 and 2080Ti=$1100 (cheapest models). AMD can under-cut $150 for 2080S and well below $1000 against the Ti and Navi2 would sell well i believe.

I'm really hoping AMD will release something to compete at the higher end this time around. I love my Navi, but there's plenty of room to improve.

at least, that sounds like what he's referring to. IE: the card likes to run @ 3D clocks when in 2D.

one thing I noticed on my 5700xt, window's default driver hard locks you into 30 fps, random & annoying tbf.
There are certain display configurations that disable the ability to run memory at lower clocks. Probably best to ask AMD/Nvidia if people are experiencing such an issue.

Also with 5700 XT being $400, Don't expect a GPU that is close to 2x faster to be anything under $799. The cut-down version might be $650. People want high perf from AMD but also want good prices. This is the nature of high GPUs now. 500mm2 7nm die will not be cheap. Nvidia will not be cheap.

That's what I'm hoping to see...5900XT for around $750-$800 (if it compares/surpasses 2080 Super performance), 5900 non-XT for $700-$750, 5800XT and non-XT in the $550-$650 range, and maybe a pimped/binned/refreshed 5700 series to bridge the gap. My eyes are shot, and I don't want to drop $2k+ on a ginormous screen, so I plan on sticking with 1440p for as long as possible. I don't think I'll have much use for a 5900XT, but I could definitely get behind a 5800XT for $600 or so if it's a substantial enough upgrade from my 5700XT.

I also agree that the high GPU prices are here to stay. Nvidia has been getting away with it for years now, and AMD has absolutely no reason to cut prices beyond what it takes to stay competitive.

$800 is fine for 2x 5700xt (unlikely, but plausible I suppose) going beyond that is what would be silly. $850 out the door for obscene cooler designs.

no ones ever gonna claw back the price gains by much. that kicks everyone in the nuts.

I would assume sane people are thinking "a bit faster than 2080ti(as fast as supa)" when they say 2x 5700xt.a

all AMD has to do is compete, not beat. N that's exactly what they'll do. Not reason to step on their own toes for the next one. They've learned from Nvidia quite well and even have a few segmentation tricks of their own now, like locking max clock (without lots of tweaking)

folks better time their 2080ti flips quick so you can side grade at nigh no loss. They're already going for $800 on the low end. Forgot I've got this optimus block coming, but luckily I've freed up a good chunk of change from flipping the 1080tis & a few other odds & ends. I'm gonna have to at least test drive it again, like i did 5700xt.
