Not sure if the news I was looking to hear. I am on a i7 930 from 2008. My CPU and its old bios can't even boot without me switching to HDMI on my TV because of nvidia's weird UEFI requirements

Was looking to upgrade to whatever can give me the strongest single core performance because of 3D Vision.

Is this a false flag news given they are running stress tests or is this an indication that sustaining 5.0 GHz would be difficult under a normal cooler. I tend to prefer Air coolers since its the easiest to deal with

It's showcasing that their 14nm fab is no longer genuinely capable of handling what AMD is doing currently. 10 cores at 4.8GHz is not a small feat at this point, but if it takes a custom loop to cool off that chip, and this is normal operating conditions without overclocking involved then these processors are going to have a serious issue ahead. I foresee several people outright avoiding these for lower core count options.

It's a 240 AIO cooler. What did you expect? Even a NH-D15 beats a 240mm AIO.

Yeah this is very dissappointing for me. I want to have the best of both worlds given my 3D needs. i thought this processor could do it. Now its either go down to 8 core or switch to AMD. I would be all for AMD actually if it wasn't for 3D Vision single core bugs.

I don't know anything about AIOs but If you can educate me on them that would be cool. If I get somethign like this, I want the best simplest plug and play cooling I can get without having to do a water loop.

What are you still doing on that CPU? You should grab 6-core when it was ready.
My i5-6600 is doing 50.69 Watts during stress test in AIDA. It's fine tuned thus auto settings for i5-6600 do far worse. It has basically zero noise during that test even after heatsink is at max temperature.

5/2 *50.69 Watts = 122.675 Watt And that's LOWEST power required at AIDA FPU stress test. In fact I assume even with improvement of technology in going from 14 nm to 14++++ nm people can't get under 153 W with high speed on all cores.

Yup we already know what a 9900k does and how it behaves. Put on 2 more cores on the same node and architecture and yah seems 100% normal.

Zero surprises here. It will be fast chip but insanely power hungry and very hard to cool. 5.0ghz all core on a 9900k with a 240mm already is quite the feat and pushing near thermal boundaries.

Where that pickachu surprised face pic when you need it.
