Going to be interesting to see if they get stuck in the low 4ghz range or not
Even if they do, just the power consumption decrease alone would be a huge improvement. More IPC (and also more hypothetical IPS) and better power/thermals would be pretty sweet.

Yeah. Matching a 2700x (clock for clock), which is soon to be 2 generations old, isn't exactly good news no matter which benchmark it is.

TimeSpy and FireStrike are just horrible CPU benchmarks.

I very much doubt you'd be saying this if the scores were bad. Just like you tend to ignore the results where Ryzen 4000 mobile processors beat Ice Lake counterparts to continue to claim how good Ice Lake is.

AMD crushes Intel in FireStrike, Intel Crushes AMD in TimeSpy. The 9900k beats the 2700x in everything else in real world test while the 3700x beats the 9900k in everything else.

Ice Lake does beat the Ryzen 4000 unless you're comparing a quad core with an 8 core.

Paul notices the odd CPU scores also in 3Dmark as a 10900k beats a 3950x in TimeSpy.

What is "everything else" ?

Stock or overclocked?

Pleace show me where my 9900k @ 5.3ghz and 4400c16 memory is beaten by 3700x.

Same clockspeed, i prefer comparing the architectural changes.

I just noticed all the reviewers are running their test with Spectre mitigations off. Curious if Intel told them to do that. My 9900k scores lower than Paul's unless I turn software patches off.

Looks like a 11% higher IPC in this benchmark.

Rocket lake will be a decent upgrade, but only if the clock speeds are similar to comet lake.

If they can clock them in the 5.0+ range then it will be pretty darn good, at least compared to what we have currently. It would be like a 5.0ghz 2700x, and I'd certainly buy that for a dollar.

Is Rocket Lake supposed to be a 2021 processor? I can't keep track of all this lake crap.
