Ice Lake U certainly isn't 70% as fast as a Ryzen 4800u in most multi threaded workloads, and a 4 core tiger lake chip very likely won't match or beat 8 core AMD mobile chips in productivity.

More details at this link:
https://wccftech.com/intel-tiger-lak...ryzen-7-4800u/

The Tiger Lake U sample has 4.7ghz max boost clocks compared to Ice Lake U 3.9ghz max boost clocks and 4.2ghz on the AMD 4800u.

If the wccftech numbers are true, the tiger lake sample has up to 20% higher clock speeds which suggest a roughly 9% increase in IPC in this benmchark.

Ice Lake 10nm CPUs have really struggled with power efficiency and scaling to higher clock speeds and core counts. A 20% higher max frequency on Tiger Lake U could mean that intel is finally making progress on their 10nm nodes.

Extrapolating further, an 8 core willow cove desktop processors with 4.5ghz+ clock speeds could be 20-30% faster than Comet Lake processors, and probably a good 15% faster or more than Zen 3.
No,no no.

This is just a case where 4 cores can boost higher than 8 due to heat limitations. That's all that's here on the cpu side. IGP remains to be seen.

All these laptops numbers are due to way more than just the cpu used. Even the same cpu can have huge differences in performance just how the system is configured.

Crazy how a quad core is that competitive with an octa-core.
What's crazy is I just ordered a Vivobook from Asus for my dad, will be here tomorrow. 15" IPS Ryzen 7 4800H with 512GB PCIE SSD,1 TB HDD and 20GB DDR4...all for under $800 shipped. We will see how much the i7 costs.

AMD used to be the one with the bad CPU model names, now look at Intel: Intel Tiger Lake-U Core i7-1165G7

Didn't Apple just announce they are ditching Intel for Macbooks? or am I wrong here?

Nothing official from Apple yet but there rumors of Apple using their own bionic ARM chip.

Given AMD just made RDNA2 APU's for consoles, I would assume something along those lines may be around the corner.

Received it yet? I saw it did almost 15K Physics score in 3DMark11.

By Built-in Benchmark Queen:
My 2.5 years old delidded 7980xe @ 4600mhz all core with 49ns memorylatency (4000c16 twekaed) is faster than 3950x max overclocked on water in every scenario. Pretty good for a ancient cpu
In gaming it has no chance vs my new 10900k @ 5400mhz and 4600c16 tweaked memory. ~35ns memorylatency.
