[TH] Intel Tiger Lake-U CPU Speeds Past AMD R7 4800U in Graphics Benchmark

Source: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/in...hics-benchmark

Quote:
AMD's Ryzen 4700U and 4800U are just barely making their ways into notebooks, but excitement is high, and performance expectations are steep thanks to their 8-core designs and integrated AMD Radeon graphics. However, Intel is also making good strides in the mobile space, as the Tiger Lake-U benchmarks have also shown promising performance. In the latest leak, the Intel Tiger Lake-U Core i7-1165G7 is spotted undergoing the 3D Mark Performance test, where it quite shockingly surpassed the R7 4800U's performance. The information comes courtesy of hardware detective @_Rogame, who dug up the 3DMark entry from 3DMark's public databases.

In the test, the Core i7-1165G7 chip blasted to a physics score of 11879 points, along with an impressive graphics score of 6912 points. For comparison, @_Rogame noted that the R7 4800U puts down 11917 points in the physics score, which is practically identical but lags behind in graphics at 6121 points.
Very impressive if this is true.

My 2.5 years old delidded 7980xe @ 4600mhz all core with 49ns memorylatency (4000c16 twekaed) is faster than 3950x max overclocked on water in every scenario. Pretty good for a ancient cpu
In gaming it has no chance vs my new 10900k @ 5400mhz and 4600c16 tweaked memory. ~35ns memorylatency.

Intel still has a way to go..
..before they decide to stagnate again.
By the time ddr5 comes out my stuff is going to look terrible, and also Skylake level ipc.

It is going to be tough to cool Intel chips as ipc keeps going up and up. Imagine the difference in heat output and temps of your cpu running at 50% then 100% utilization. Then add that again. But I'll gladly take a cpu that has too much potential performance to just let go full oc speed. I'll just throttle it back to suit my desires.

How far off is the product? How much will the product cost? What are the conditions of the cpu during the test....(we all remember the chiller) I couldn't care less about this information w/o context.

Bob Swan said Tiger Lake will be out this summer to replace Ice Lake mobile chips.

Idk about you but I want Bob to announce "Swan Lake". As well as fill in some of the rest of the details relevant to this.

What other details do you want to know? Ton of information is out regarding Tiger Lake and they even announced a lot of details during CES about Tiger Lake.

Its 8C vs 4C. How well does Time Spy scale for cores and Intel/AMD with current CPU?

Depends which Physics scores you go by - Tom's or TPU.

Tom's is using 3DMark 11 so it would be better to go with TimeSpy.
