IDK, I think the demand for the 4000 series is high. Anyone who still has a 4 core 8 thread i7 is probably waiting anxiously to upgrade as in the near future. I'm planning to upgrade to the 4000 series when it's available. I'd like to be at least that far ahead of console hardware for my next upgrade. Preferably I'll be able to wait until DDR5.

They all either have crappy screen, cooling issues, soldered ram (so 8GB Ram) or bad keyboard. The 4800h/hs are also hit and miss products. The best one is like the zephyrs g14 but that's more than i want to pay for an mainly work pc. It's really not an great launch. I am more inclined to wait for ultrabook with Intel Tigerlake at this point. All i need is ultrabook with CPU and next gen IGP stronger than my current Alienware 15r2 (6700hq/970m 3GB) that can run multiple monitors (including 4k). It won't be gaming as I have the 3950X with 3080Ti/Big Navi for that.
The wishful thinking was about PCIe 5.0 solving a bottleneck, not Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs.

In bold; this seems to be the bane of almost all 4000 series laptops. I ordered a ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 with 240 Hz calibrated screen as the only reasonable option out now, though that is also not an ultrabook, has half the RAM soldered to the board, and cooling issues. At least it has a good screen.

Why does everything with a 4000 series also have a 65% sRGB screen?

I know I was/am hoping to drop a Zen 3 CPU into my new X570 board this fall.

AMD does not have much of a lead to slow down like this.

Desktop Zen 3 was never planned for 2020. Those were just optimistic rumors!

TSMC can't just magically make unlimited wafers, so higher profit markets come first.

The Zen 3 & RDNA 2 launches that were promised for later this year are obviously for enterprise stuff.

Because Intel makes sure of it. Not joking either. It's the same reason you really can't find a high end gpu with a 4000 series. Some manufacturers are starting to stand up to Intel, but it's going to be a slow process.

That aside...I'll give launches this year a pass as we have had and are still having a global pandemic.

I think that's possible for most of us. Lot of enthusiast (and still have income coming in) i know have cut there budgets on computer/entertainment a lot. The only thing they are prepared to fork out are this year GPU (based on its rumors) and smaller projects. Smaller projects are just to keep us occupied in these times. Generally just more of us trying to increase our cash holdings for other purposes including real investment opportunities.

The Ever Ongoing Build. 3950X. X570 Hero VIII, 32GB GSkill Trident Z 4000mhz, Seasonic Prime Titanium 1000Watt, 1TB 960 Pro, 1TB WD SN750.
