Didn't everyone think Turing was going to be the "11-series" before it was announced and was the 20-series instead?

Yep. I was in that camp. Just made logical sense imo (4xx, 5xx, 6xx, 7xx, 8xx (which was mobile only), 9xx, 10xx, 11xx). Though I get that it also makes sense to change to increments of 10 once you reach 10 and also sounds better from a marketing perspective I guess.

From a pure marketing standpoint, 20 as the replacement for 10 over 11 replacing 10, subconsciously sounds like a bigger leap.

i'm too old smart for that

buit i won't really disagree with that though i think the RTX/GTX segmentation has a play in that. ofc i have no idea what nvidia is thinking (besides making a profit) but i think they want a break from the GTX branding entirely. on that note i would have liked to seen 20, 30, 40 . .for RTX and 12, 13, 14 for GTX cards.

RTX2080 = GTX1280
RTX3080 = GTX1380

but them just sliding the 6 over for the 1660+ cards to me signals any GTX cards in the future . . ?????

Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.

If you need help: Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

Does a 3080 Ti leaking actually say anything about a 3090? I thought the rumor was both a 3080 Ti and a 3090? I guess we assume Asus wouldn't brand anything beside the absolute top end a Strix?

A 3090 could still exist an an Nvidia only card, like another Titan... though I won't hold my breath for it either. Asus might also have a new name for a stupid top end card, Strix is not the top of the stack for their motherboards or laptops after all.

There must be some compelling research data indicating that people like 20 a lot more than 11.

They seem to be the same card. I'm sure this is intentional as the naming was changed last minute in production of a prior lineup: https://videocardz.com/newz/rumored-...cations-emerge

Yeah that would have been far less confusing for the average consumer, or hell me too. 16 was a weird one to go to.
