Not exactly the same. It might be if vehicles or home theaters were only made by two companies and the models that this approach was applied to were only made by one of those two.

Minning I hope is not going to exploded this time or gamers are in for a very rough time.

Mining messes the whole gpu system up for those that wanna build rigs for normal people just to play games. Its ability to mess pricing up is unreal.

Mining didn't make Turing expensive, it made late-life Pascal expensive. RT cores, GDDR6, massive dies, and years and years of R&D made Turing expensive.

Frankly this sounds completely bogus to me. First I am hearing of any "renewed" mining craze.

"Any business that doesn't give away their products for free are against consumer interests". I fail to understand how can someone who works for a living and is part of a value chain for n number of products be talking about consumer interests and wanting things for free. Should Fedex deliver your packages for free? Should your dentist give you free root canals because that's what in the consumer's interest?

I almost feel like there should be a law against this type of thing.
I'm happy there isn't any law that stop companies from doing this because I can't find logic in doing such a thing besides pissing off "consumer interest" brigade.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

At this point I figure that anybody who wanted a 20 series card already has one.

Mining was making video cards quite pricey even as far back as late 2011 to early 2012, according to my purchase receipts. Don't think I've seen pricing come back to earth since. Though there are good deals available to a person willing to search them out.

@huzzug I made it a bit more clear to why I have those thoughts in a later post. It is due to to duopolistic nature of the industry and the monopolistic nature of high end parts...ie rtx. If there were competitors in the segment, I wouldn't have those thoughts.
