assuming the 30x0 replacement for 20x0 mid/low end isn't more expensive, what's the problem?

like honestly... on the flip side, y'all would've been QQ'ing about how 3060 is just a refreshed 2070!

at least this way everything with RT cores benefits from the evolution, instead of leaving many of their consumers stuck on RTX1.0 refresh stack products, after buying 30x0 series. NV has THE WORST history with rebranding & obscuring product identities so turing NOT creeping into the low/mid range gaming stack is great. AMD's the GOAT as far as stringing along refreshes in local history goes.

inflation from COVID is real, and NV is an envious greed ball.

combine that = probability for higher prices.

this is why you're never gonna get anywhere just working for a check, even if that check is of decent size. Gotta at least keep up with inflation if you wanna have a smooth second half.

Inb4...I know its a sound (although shady) business decision, but I'm not part of that business. I am part of the consumers and therefore do not like when their decisions directly go against our interests. I almost feel like there should be a law against this type of thing.

Literally everyone does this and has been doing it for ages. It's just not a smart business move to have a massive stockpile of obsolete products sitting around in a warehouse.

This is what happens when something becomes EOL. They have to make the new cards or would you rather there be a shortage of new cards thereby driving the price up?

This is what happens. When something is EOL you don't make it anymore.

We're in a global recession, I hope they do raise prices. It will teach them a lesson on economics. I'm already dedicated to buying aMD just to counterbalance their monopoly on the market, but If I wasn't I would NOT be paying for the 3080ti. I have a job, a lot of people I know right now don't. The gaming community I run NO ONE is talkinga bout buying GPUs a ton of people are thinking of buying consoles instead. They just can't afford to buy GPUs at Nvidia's prices not even the x70 or x60 tiers. That spells to me they've overpriced themselves.

When fab time is at such a premium it makes sense to discontinue old products before the launch of the new.
I'm sure people would complain much more bitterly if there weren't any silicon available for RTX3000 launch.

Pretty much the same. Everyone in My gaming community is sitting on 10 series card with maybe one guy on a 20 series card. Nobody is looking to upgrade as they can not afford it.

I have money puy away for this one as long as I can get a decent performance bump with a max budget of 900-1000CAN over my 1080ti.

My 1080ti is chugging along, if I dont see 50 to 80% improvement over the 1080ti I have no reason to spend 1000 bucks on a GPU.
