Hi Everyone,

I had the opportunity to enter these competitions in 2015 and 2016 and met some amazing people and learned tons regarding overclocking at an extreme cooling level.
I strongly recommend anyone that can make it to attend.
You'll get to learn overclocking from a beginner perspective if it's your first time trying on ambient air cooling or can also play with extreme cooling (Liquid Nitrogen) if you feel a bit more adventurous smile.gif

Here are the details: @xyala @trouffman @Johan45 @Rasparthe @MrBreeze

The HWBOT World Tour it back in Montreal, Canada for the third year in a raw. This time, the tour will attend the Dreamhack 2017 hosted at the mythical Place Bonneaventure at the heart of Montreal City. This event will be a great opportunity for American Overclockers from the North-East to come together and enjoy both the social and competitive nature of Extreme Overclocking.

The Montreal 2017 event will feature the following activities:
- Ambient Overclocking Workshops for all Dreamhack 2017 visitors (free): Learn to overclock using the latest hardware provided by our partners (DH Expo entry pass required).
- Extreme Overclocking Contest: The Overclocking World Championship 2017 - Montreal Qualifier. A competitive extreme contest. The winner will earn a ticket to the OCWC Finals at the end of the year.
- Overclockers Gathering: A place for overclockers to meet and enjoy overclocking together in a relaxed environment with lots of LN2 provided. This is a BYOC event. (limited to 6 seats)

Event Schedule:
September 8 - 8: Overclocking Workshops
September 8 - 10: Overclockers Gathering
September 9 : OCWC Montreal Qualifier - Qualification stages
September 10: OCWC Montreal Qualifiers Finals // Ambient tournament Finals

LN2 Ticket Includes:
- Entry ticket to Dreamhack
- A seat at the Overclockers Gathering
- A chance to compete in the OCWC Montreal Qualifier contest
- Access to unlimited LN2

Might want to mention to whoever writes the event page that description on HWBot X that it still says Seattle in the first paragraph ^_^

Eventbrite also doesn't mention if tickets are in USD or CAD.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I'd love to go, but since vacation requests had to be in back in February if we wanted confirmed dates off (and someone has taken the week before and week after), odds of making it out there aren't too good for me. Flights are a lot more reasonably priced atm at $487 CAD with taxes, but I'd want that week afterwards to be able to finally explore Montreal like I've wanted to all these years - the head office for the company I work is there after all (well, at least our division anyways). If we had known in January or February I could have easily found a way to work it all into the budget, but I don't have the spare cash to be able to pull off an event, especially since we're talking realistically at least $1k to do the event ($500 plane ticket, hotel costs, food and coffee isn't cheap when eating out, and at least $100 for the event ticket).

... From everything I've heard though, it's an absolutely blast to attend, and last year's pre-event Poutine (and beerapalooza) looked like one hell of a good time, plus there really is that opportunity that if you win the North American stop to go and have an absolute blast in Germany.

Thanks @marc0053 for the post and the tag smile.gifbiggrin.gif

@WhiteWulfe yep, I know. It's going to be fixed by tomorrow, we are revisiting the event info, so tomorrow it's all up and neat. thumb.gif
We will also have the rules of the OCWC published soon, but basically it's the same ones from the last event in Cape Town two weeks ago.

I want to add also that HWBOT can lend some 7700K (or BDW-E) CPUs if some of you might need some help on the gear to have fun or play the OCWC qualifiers which will be on KBL. (email me - [email protected])

Also, for those who never did LN2, this kind of event is there exactly for that. Nobody learned XOC by himself at home watching YouTube videos. It's something you've got to do with mentors to guide you. So even if you don't have LN2 pots, write here and ask, there are plenty of people with LN2 equipment in spare which could help you out for the weekend (me included).

Any questions otherwise please shoot.

EDIT : tickets are in USD.
