Could you please take a picture of the monitor at a 45 degree angle from head on, so the camera is pointing more towards the side of the monitor. That will show us how much IPS glow from off angle viewing we get. Or if there is not glow, would lend more credence to the panel being a VA type. I suspect it could be a VA type too though because of the Philips panel that everyone is using right now in this same size, but that panel is supposed to have a 5000:1 ratio and this lists 3000:1 which is closer to high grade IPS contrast normally is, or towards a low grade MVA typical contrast. Hmm...

Those who have 290x beware. You need to change the DP cable that comes with the monitor and it needs to be less than 3m. Had issues with mine developing with flickering until I changed the cable again.
Had issues with a mini DP to DP cable. No clear stands on DP cable or cable makers don't always follow. Need to get a certified DP cable. DP group has a list of cert'd caqbles. I found this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A7R9I22/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 to be the onlyu cert'd cable for mini DP to DP. This fixed an issue I had with a 4K monitor connected to my 290X2.

Yeh I agree with this. My 120Hz 1080p would always play up until I sourced one of the Accell cables.

From memory other cables can have an unconnected pin in the plugs.

Accell is the only one with full pin, hence full DP1.2 data transfer rate.

I don't think that is accurate, I was having some bad display port issues recently and someone told me about this pin. So I went and read a bunch of stuff about it, it is PIN 21 and it is supposed to be disconnected because it will transfer 3.3v power on both ends.

Has nothing to do with the bandwidth. Not saying buying a certain cable is a bad idea however... Just had a DP cable nightmare recently my self. I do mean nightmare too.

I have one of these monitors.

Colours aren't as vibrant as the QNIX 2710's it replaced but blacks are much better if the room is fairly dark.

I am getting some flickering every 30 seconds or so and is very annoying. Thanks to King4x4 for alerting me to the fact that this is probably the mini DP ports on the 7970's that I have. Those mini DP ports have been nothing but trouble...
Anyway once I get a certified miniDP - DP 1.2 cable and verify the flickering is gone I'll remove the glass front. I agree with see3d that most things need modding so happy to do this smile.gif

Edit: someone has already removed the glass but I don't read Korean and the page won't translate...

I would really appreciate your checking the reflections without the glass. I have been holding off pulling the trigger solely for this one issue. I thought it funny that google claims the Korean site is translated, but it is still in Korean... LOL

I don't have any windows behind me, but I like to keep a bright room for working in. Seeing my own reflection in the screen would not be cool -- I am not a narcissist. typer.gif

I'll take a look tonight and see how easy the glass pries off tonight.

In a room with NO windows (converted garage) and a single fluorescent light overhead I found it very annoying. I actually put a small lamp behind the monitor and turned off the overhead light. That helped a lot.

Any one need a big piece of glass? smile.gif

I just went to take a look and as soon as I put a screwdriver behind it I saw how easy it would be. I undid 3 screws in top right corner to get the backing clear a bit and then just went around the edges slowly leveraging with a couple of flat head screwdrivers. 5 minutes work a VAST improvement smile.gif

It appears to be semi matte, just right really. Much less matte than Dell monitors. Probably less than the QNIX 2710 mattes as well.

The photos are pretty terrible but you can see the big difference between glass and no glass.
