Don't use msi afterburner or RTSS as it messes with the game's HDR. Without it the game's HDR looks just fine.

No it doesn't. Just try it with HDR off and you will see more vibrant colors. Red is red and not orange

I did lol I'm not sure if it's an issue specific to the PG27UQ then but I played the whole game on my B7 OLED and HDR worked fine.

I closed rtss but it didn’t make a difference. The game still looks very good with vibrant colors but I notice the black areas are not truly black, especially at night. And that weird spark glitch as well. Your screenshots are from Odyssey though, yes? I’m talking about Origins, but I heard another user had the same issue with the sparks glitch in Odyssey as well: https://steamcommunity.com/app/81214...2469272261292/

Ah my bad I mixed up Odyssey and Origins. I never played Origins so it's very possible that it just has a terrible HDR.

Tbh hdr still looks fine. The sun and the fire look very bright and stand out. It’s just that the black level seems lacking so contrast seems kinda off. In Odyssey, do you notice any scene where is supposed to be completely black but turns out grey?

And the sparkle glitch. If you look closely at character’s body during night time, you may see some sparkling lines. This seems to be an hdr problem in Odyssey as well as reported above.

I think it could be the fact that because it's a FALD IPS panel, it might have some trouble reaching low enough black depths, and instead just looks grey like an IPS typically ends up looking like. I played Odyssey on my OLED which has no problems with black levels/dimming zones so blacks appeared nice and inky. I could try firing up Odyssey on my X27 and see how that looks compared to the OLED.

I don’t think this is ips vs oled problem. Other hdr games i tried on the pg27uq like horizon dawn have way better black and the contrast appears to be very strong. I tried Origins on my oled c7 just now and the overall black looks inkier due to oled’s higher contrast but still it was not as deep as I expected. Possibly it is just how the game is.

If you check Odyssey again, pls check for the spark glitch I mentioned. Look closely at the character during night time.
