Just read the TFT central review on this one..... Man this thing really sounds like the monitor that will get me to upgrade my 27" S2716DG.... What i'm most excited about is the 120Hz refresh rate and the awesome response rate even though its an IPS. In the review you can see the IPS pixel can't beat a TN pixel, but the signal processing on this thing is insane, and makes up the difference. Awesome.
Going to be really hard to not pull the trigger on this and a 1080ti this holiday season..... If newegg had it for $999 i'd probably be all over it already. We'll just have to wait and see how big the holiday bonus is this year..
edit: Welp, i decided to just bite the bullet. Once it comes in and all is good, i'll throw the ol S2716DG on craigslist and see if i can make back some of the cost. Next is the 1080ti XD although it'll probably be harder to get rid of the 980ti with waterblock. Certainly won't be getting near what i paid back on that in the used market. I feel like the S2716 will still have some pretty good value left in it.
I just sold my S2716DG for $400 on facebook a few days ago. It still has value so it should soften the blow!
Just received mine. However I cant test it because my pc is in the middle of being upgraded.. Just need to finish putting the monoblock on the mobo and get everything tubed up.. Its hard line so it might take me a day or two.
Mine arrived yesterday and it is an amazing display. The best part was the price! I'm so glad I decided to get it. Now I have to sell my Dell U3415W. For now I have them both stacked and I might get spoiled!
Found this monitor last week and after that I started reading a lot of comments and reviews online.
I'm looking for an ultrawide with IPS and G-Sync and of course I would love to buy a screen like the Predator X35 (but who knows when it will be available and at what price), but with my current budget I don't want to spend more than 1000$ on the screen.
120 Hz should be a very good value for this resolution. I will buy a 1080 Ti soon and I think that probably this resolution is the sweet spot for this refresh rate. I don't think that having a higher refresh rate will make a big difference for me.
Of course I looked at the older Acer X34 and the Asus PG348Q, but it seems that this Alienware is a very good deal at the current sale price.
Would you recommend getting this screen? I also use it for photography (I'm not a pro, just an enthusiast).
