Upgrade to 144Hz 1st or rtx 2070 ?

I can get a good deal on a zotac rtx 2070 amp extreme core + BF5, or get a Dell S2716DG for $172USD off, which is a lot, which is 1440p 144Hz w/ g-sync, but it's a TN panel, I surf/read and watch stuff a lot more than I game.

I can't afford the 2nd item until mid-Feb at best, probably mid-March, because neither would probably be on sale.
My current 27" Qnix 1440p IPS monitor has bad ghosting/blurring/tearing. If u look around fast in say Skyrim, or FC4, the FPS might say 60fps w/v-sync, but it looks like a mess

But I'm "only" on a r9 280x, but there's still lots of games I could play that it would get high fps, for 2-3 months

At this point I would wait for 7nm GPUs. Then decide. Also 2018 144Hz+ monitors are mostly trash There are some incoming finally with newer panels in early 2019, January in EU, sold already in Asia, and so on, new stuff 2019 at least some finally.

What ever happens with AMD 7nm GPU, I doubt they'll beat a rtx 2070, too bad tho

RTX 2070 = GTX 1080 = Vega64. They can, the question is do they want to. Considering how behind at the high end they are now, they left high end altogether, they will probably launch at least one high end GPU again on 7nm even if it's only on par with 1080Ti = 2080.
