Suggestions for a general purpose monitor.

I really have no clue what to buy do to the bewildering amount of options. I do know I would like to upgrade from 24" 1080P. I was thinking 1440P at 27" or somewhere there abouts. I get conused about IPS vs TN and all the different refresh rates. I only game casually. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to spend $300-$500.

So my question is how are the viewing alngles? Like TN where you have to look straight on or like IPS where you can look at an angle?

VA isn't between TN and IPS.
IPS is the best color, people complain about glow (I'm lucky).
TN is the fastest but the colors aren't great and they often look washed out
VA has the best blacks but have smear and BLB is common
I'm not explaining speed but 60hz looks like ass if you've seen 120hz or even 90hz.
Imo 144hz 27" IPS is the best all around. Nixeus EDG gets my vote simply because I'm the only person who doesn't complain about glow.

well because its curved it is expected to be looked at straight ahead,
its really made for pc gaming, the curved screen gives you a more immersive gaming experience in some peoples opinion,

the price is what really got me to buy it.

for 1440p and a 144 refresh rate its hard to beat, plus it has the freesync, which seems to be working even on my Nvidia card

and white owl has a point I probably should of said "VA panels are something of a middle ground between IPS and TN panels".

My panel is fine too!

OP: pretty much all 27" 144hz 1440p IPS monitors use the same panels. Just get the cheapest.

If you are ok with 60hz, get a 4K HDR TV. They're pretty cheap.

I agree to a point. You do want good VRR implimentation so make sure that's not total garbage.
I picked Nixeus because they supposedly have a strict binning process...I can't vouch for that but I can say that mine doesn't have any of the issues everyone complains about of their $1000 fad panels.

How about build quality? I see people all the time saying stands are flimsy etc... with budget IPS monitors.
