Is the 38GL950G still the monitor I should be looking at?

It should not be too much longer before the 38GL950G is released. With that, I have not researched or heard about any other monitors being announced or released within the past 2-3 months since I stopped looking. Has there been anything released or announced recently that is comparable, note worthy, something that deserves my attention before purchasing the 38GL950G? Or, has there been a major flaw found in recent reviews, if any, of the 38GL950G that should make me not want to buy it?

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't drop $2000 on that monitor. Why? For this reason: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce...screen-gaming/

Basically VRR over HDMI is now totally confirmed supported by nvidia and the LG C9 OLED will have gsync compatible certification. I would just pick up a C9 OLED instead at a much cheaper price, then that money that you saved can be used towards a brand new GPU upgrade in the future to fully unlock 120Hz on your OLED.

But aren't those more like TVs? I do not want a TV to play on. However, I do want one of those for the monitor above that monitor.

its a 55inch (and larger) 4K120hz TV, that's HDMI2.1 ready.

anyone that has em LOVES them.

you'd find yourself just wanting to play on the other monitor, they're one of the most gorgeous screens on the market

The C9 will drop even lower on black friday, just look at the C8 prices from last year's black friday. Regardless, it is still a bit cheaper than $2000 for that ultrawide. And what's wrong with gaming on a TV? If you don't want to use it as a desktop monitor I understand but you can just buy a secondary monitor for all your desktop needs and use the C9 exclusively for gaming. I currently use my OLED only for gaming and it's fantastic, VRR will make it even better.

I'd 100% grab one at the right price, and use it as a monitor. I'm on 4K60 now, the only place to go is 4K120. Ultrawide is a weird fab. I test drove it twice, but didn't really like it. It's not even close to replacing the epicness of 3 screens or a giant 4K.
As far as TVs go. I've already got as YUUUUUUUUUUUUGE eXeCuTiVe class samsung waiting for me in storage that I got for free. It's easily 70" possibly larger.

Not to mention you can set the C9 to do 3840x1600 and still get the ultra-wide experience at 120 Hz (black bars top and bottom), all with glorious OLED picture quality.

GPU: TITAN RTX - 2175 MHz, liquid cooled
CPU: 9900K 5.4 GHz, liquid cooled
MB: ASUS Maximus XI Gene
RAM: G.Skill 16GB 4600 MHz
SSD: Intel Optane 905P - 960GB
DISPLAY: LG C9 55" OLED

Do they do 4k 120hz from your machine though, as in do they accept a 4k signal or is it just 4k 60hz?

The LG C9 is true 120Hz but needs an HDMI 2.1 GPU to do it. Until one comes out we would be running it at 60Hz off our HDMI 2.0 RTX 20 series cards but at least VRR is now enabled.

Assuming that is over HDMI, correct?
