Need a new 4k large display monitor *update* got one

Been using a 42" wasabi mango 4k monitor for a little over 4 years. Power outage on thanksgiving killed it.

Wanted to replace it with something similar, searched around and got this Philips BDM4350UC.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01E1...b_b_asin_title

Unfortunately the picture is terrible. Text is really jagged. Colors look off no matter what I do. Calibration didn't really help from out of the box quality. It basically looks like they tried to stretch 1080p to 43" and pass it off as 4k. I've already decided this thing has got to go back. Either my eyes broke in the past week or Philip's is lying about something. This monitor just looks abysmal.

Anything else I should look for around $750 and under?

I dont really game much anymore, mostly youtube and movies but I do game every now and then, nothing competitive and no online FPS games. Mostly mmos and rpgs.

The wasabi mango was IPS 5ms 42" I believe...but that was almost 5 years ago so I'm not really sure on specs. I just want something similar to html. I dont think I need some 144mhz 1ms freesync beast, but I want my 4k monitor to look 4k...not whatever monstrosity Philip's attempted to call 4k. I'm thinking 34" to 43" range, anything over 43" wont fit the desk.

UPDATE:

ended up getting a samsung 55" q70. Hopefully the 55" isnt too much, might cancel and go 49" instead after checking them out at a store tomorrow.

55 B9, and a new desk.

and how do you know it won't fit? you'd just need a vesa stand, instead of the stock housing stand. I have a 70 inch TV on a 30 inch wide dresser.

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.

^ I'm pretty much in his camp. My 55" was on a 6ft staples table for a few years before I found an executive L-shaped desk at goodwill for next to nothing. A 5ft or even 4ft wide one would work, but I need space for the studio monitors and other junk that I throw on it.

Alternatively, you could take the monitor to a local electronics repair place and see if they can fix the power supply in it. They're pretty basic on these Wasabi Mangos. Find the burn victim, look on mouser or digikey for the replacement, and solder it back on. Well, hopefully it's that easy.

If you don't game then the Acer CG7 is out of the question and is way above your budget. What you want is a nice IPS with good resolution and lots of real estate. Stay away from tennis match CRG9 and you lose vertical to 1440 and physical size. Just grab something like this https://www.amazon.com/ViewSonic-VX4...5504562&sr=8-4

That's basically what I got but it ended up looking terrible.

How are the wasabi mango uhd430s? I liked my uhd420 a lot and wish it didn't die on me.

I figured a nice IPS 43" from philips would be a good replacement...guess not.

or am i just going to end up with a similiar display as the philips.

that asus monitor was mostly vaporware. it's why alienware can get away with $999 for their newest 3440x1440p 144. n you need hdmi 2.1 to properly drive 4K above 60hz. and we don't get nice things until consoles do, so we don't have that yet.

might as well refresh with wasabi, as you said. we're deep into the trenches of this hardware cycle. It needs to die already, n 4(K1)20 rev needs to officially start.

this one does 4k @ 120hz for a little more but I don't know if a 49'' could fit on your desk
