Some questions about the AW 55" OLED

Ok, so I pulled the trigger on this. Got it for 2700, shipped

Three days of gaming thoughts:

It looks amazing, color-wise. WOW the blacks in Elite Dangerous and colors in Assassins Creed Odyssey...

Some questions:

In the OSD, there is an "HDR" option that I can toggle to "Game HDR". This allows me to select enable HDR from in-game menus, even tho the monitor doesnt support HDR. It definitely changes the appearance in AC Odyssey and Far Cry 5, but fails to launch in War Thunder. Any thoughts on this?

Also in the windows display menu, there is yet another HDR toggle, like "Play HDR apps and games" which SEEMS to change the desktop coloring when I toggle it, not really sure? Any thoughts?

Finally, the text on things like installing an app seems fuzzy. I remember reading issues with other big displays and seem to remember something called "clear type" but this doesnt even seem to be an option in Windows 10? Any thoughts on this too?

Thx monitor experts!!

Disable clear type with any display unless you love looking at blurry fonts. Even then a lot of apps will blur fonts anyway, often it's because of Google and their Chromium/Electron and ripping out the option for users to get non blurred text.

OLED are not RGB but WRGB at least the LG panel, so things like clear type etc. font blurring techniques are not made for this subpixel arrangement.

You should never toggle HDR in Windows settings, an application itself should tell the monitor that it is sending HDR to it and the output and monitor should switch to HDR on their own.
My guess is the TV isn't announcing HDR support without the OSD HDR option enabled.
How things look or work or not is entirely up to program developers, they define the tonemapping and what they output in HDR and SDR mode.
