Testing components:
AMD Phenom II 940 BE Retail.
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H
2x1gb Team Xtreem PC8000
Gigabyte ODIN Pro 1200w PSU
Gigabyte HD 4850 and XFX GTX 280

Air cooling: Thermalright Ultra-120 original
Single Stage: Built by me, chilly1 evap
LN2: Dragon Evo 2.4

The cooler I won't be using.

What I'll be using instead.

Some quick air results...
4ghz was doable, but not for anything multithreaded.

Prepped for subzero cooling...
Very easy to make gaskets for this board.
I put electrical tape over the inner RAM slots after the first LN2 run because they were freezing over.

Brief Single Stage testing...

LN2 testing...
Unfortunately, going into this I only had about 5 liters left in my dewar.
When I ran out was at 99% of a wprime 1024m run at just over 5.6ghz.
I'll be back with more.

And the benchmarks for the onboard video...

Can you list your BIOS settings?
Well I have the newest bios on there.

I have the chip at 18.5 x 200. Any touching of the FSB seems to be bad for me, probably cause i am trying with to high of a mutiplier. I must be missing something. Got my ram at 2.0v, vcore is 1.425. everything else is pretty much stock.

These settings are stable for me for 15x255

HT Link freq: 2.0ghz
CPU NB Freq: x10
PCI-E: 101
mem clock: x4.00
southbridge voltage: normal
ddr2 voltage: 2.20v (but I'm running mine at 4-4-4-10)
CPU NB VID: +0.300v
CPU Voltage: +0.200v

Great review. My motherboard just fried and I am in the market for a new one so this might just be the one!

Now for a stupid question... what is the point of the intergrated graphics?
From an enthusiast stand point (not sure if I am there yet) it would not be untilized, right? That is unless you can hook even another monitor up to it in addtion to the two provided by the GPU. Sorry just thinking out load.

Once again great review!

It is for the unenthusiast. Or people looking for something cheap. I love my board. I love Gigabyte boards in general I am a tad bit biased.

I'm thinking about getting this board, any advantages over the Foxconn or Biostar 790GX boards that you know of? Looks like the board is good since it got up to 3.8GHz on air(which means 3.6 should be doable for me).

Oh and the SuperPI run is AWESOME for an AMD CPU!

790GX uses integrated graphics. They are pretty good Integrated Graphics.
790FX is more of an enthusiast board, without graphics.

Nice HTT, 2500MHz. Didn't think theses processors liked the high clock with the high HTT from the review sites but people have been getting them high on both!

I think I finally narrowed the CPU/MOBO to this combo on the newegg for 338
