Should my Asus RT-AC88U (AC3100) be getting faster wireless speeds?

So I have fiber 1GB up/dn service where I live. I have ran many tests. My lan speeds hit 995mbps down and 990mbps up which are excellent and hold up to their advertising. Now for my wireless I mainly run on my 5ghz channel when I am home. Very rarely do I run on 2.4ghz channel except for my wireless devices (cameras/TVs/Alexa/Google/etc). My house is very open at 2800sq.ft. two story. My router is in the living room. When running some speed test on 5ghz I have seen around 400mbps down and 550mbps up. This is with standing in the living room. Lowest speeds are around 200mbps down and 150mbps up. If I am not mistaken shouldn't I be seeing the same speeds as wired connections?

Just saw they have a new firmware update back in Dec of 2018. I will update the firmware and see if this fixes anything. Will update soon.

I updated to the new firmware and speeds have not changed. I am testing with my Galaxy S9+ using speedtest by ookla.

lol. Expecting gigabit wifi from your phone is like wondering why you are not getting the 1.2gbps cellular speed advertised on the newer LTE chipsets.

**** I didn't know. Figured these new phones would pull 1gb wifi. Guess I am wrong.

I just went through my speedtest history and it shows that 650 is not the max. Unless it was a fake speed? Here are some of my highspeed tests..These tests were done all on my 5ghz channel and on auto 20/40/80.

378mbps down - 799mbps up on 9/29/18
364mbps down - 769mbps up on 10/16/18
341mbps down - 628mbps up on 10/24/18
297mbps down - 699mbps up on 11/21/18
348mbps down - 645mbps up on 12/16/18

Then my latest ones are all in the high 200s down and high 300s/low 400s up. Not sure why they have dropped so much. These tests were done on both 80mhz channel and right in front of router.
