I had used teamviewer for years. But recently after adding my desktop PCS (4) and my laptop I got a notice that I was using it commercially and had to purchase it. I used to remote in on my mobile at work but due to my illness and surgeries i'm currently disabled and am home mostly.
I had never used it but I'm liking Windows Remote Desktop (I disabled password protected sharing since I'm not doing internet control with it).
So for LAN is there a better free option than the built in Windows Remote Desktop? If I need to do internet based control is this program easy to setup or is there a better optioon?
I've been using regular old RDP for a long time. So long as you're okay with lack luster 3D acceleration and choppy windowed video playback, RDP will work fine for you. At least that's been my experience, using it right now actually. It's not too hard to setup outside your LAN either. You'll have to get a little more in depth into Windows and change the port to something non standard, and make sure you're on a static IP LAN and WAN (can use DNS for WAN). The app for Android works pretty well too if you want to control your PC or a VM from your phone (can't speak about IOS).
