Hi

I think I have a golden 2600k chip as I have just reached [email protected] (offset= +0.10). I've tested it in 3dmark11 and the highest temp is after 30 minutes of running it is 71'c. Is this a safe overclock and is it good to run it at this for 24/7?

The multiplier is set @49 and the voltage is at 1.416. I have disable c states apart from c1.

It is certainly safe.

I wouldn't say that it's a "golden" chip. But you definitely have a chip above average.

Not golden, but still not bad! Should be a pretty safe OC, and not too bad of temps. What's your ambient and what cooler do you have?
Here's a chart I made comparing different OCs and different voltages. The numbers are percentiles, to show you what percentage of chips yours is better than. It lumps i5s and i7 together though, so with HT on, know you're doing a little bit better than the chart shows.

Hi,

Thanks for the super quick reply guys. I have got HT enabled and I am running a Xigamatek Prime sd1484 with one fan in push. Another question, Is there any way I can get it clock down and up quicker?
Thanks for all the help +rep.

Damn, looking at that chart makes me want to go water cooling, as my 2700k is running at
4.6 @ 1.29v 24/7. With HT on and all dimm slots filled up wink.gif

This is brilliant. The one problem I have noticed is some boards use wrong voltage I had two 2700K's on my. UD7 they both took 1.47v for 4.8ghz. But on another lower end UD3 board both of these same 2700K's took 1.40v. But overall this voltage above is what I have seen I have OC'ed about 10 sandy CPU's.

Not understanding this graph... Are you saying that if a 2500K can clock to 5.1GHz at 1.485V, it is in the 10th percentile? That seems a bit optimistic to me, as many people would need about ~1.5V to hit 5.0GHz and above.

edit: Just realized that your sample size was only 5 in that test and  20 in the other, too small to be very conclusive.

The consumption of LSD would not cause you to misinterpret the properties of your overclock, trust me. I overclock while tripping balls all the time.

I've a 2500k that'll do 5.0GHz on 1.410V. Not golden either, but still a damned good chip.

Those temps are good, though. Sub 75°C is plenty safe for 24/7 use.
