Because nearly everyone dont know how much better is new skylake in games vs sandy bridge and still think sandy bridge=can match skylake in game i run some tests...

I already posted this in skylake owners klub, but every day someone ask how skylake is performing vs sandy bridge and he get answer its small difference so i creating this Thread.

Also use Frametimes and comparable FPS as primary.Fraps is here just for min FPS.

Test system:
2500K 4.5Ghz
8GB 1600 8-9-8 1T
GTX970 1500/8000
win7 64

6700k 4.5Ghz

Thats a nice comparison, but I'd like to know if you have a i7 2600K on hand, could you do the test comparing it with the 6700K or disable HT on the 6700K and run it like a true QC chip and then make these tests as these do not compare the gaming performance jump between a quad core and a quad core or a quad core with HT to quad core with HT.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

i can give you an idea with a single 290 and my i7 Sandy . . . C3 1080 HT on and off . . .

Thank you for the comparison +rep.
I am shocked by the increase in Skyrim. From 38 to 56 fps, that's a 48% increase in a game that doesn't scale well with HT, impressive results there. I guess it is that DDR4-3000 memory. When I increased the memory from 1333 MHz to 2400 I got 10-15% jump with my i7 870. What mods are you exactly using that make the 2500K tank in cities?

Heyy....hope the trip was good. But what I find lacking in the findings is that the OP says that there is no reason to move from an i5 2500K (a quad core part) to a 6700K (a quad core with HT). I'd like if he can show these benches either with an 26/2700K or disable HT on his 6700K and then run the benches again. Otherwise, it's a solid comparison.

from sandy (i5 and i7) to skylake . . . i think it is really worth it unless there is some newer coming out soon. ddr4 cost is going down and that's another thing.

your country is beautiful. i am going back. thank you.

very nice compression! but it's not fair enough.. 4 Cores VS 4 cores + HT ... If you can test with HT off so 4 core vs 4 Core basically ( 2500K vs 6600K ) thumb.gif

HT ON/OFF its same.Only in crysis3 and watchdogs are differences. Its GPU bottleneck with skylake.(skylake is too strong for GTX970 even with HT OFF)

3000Mhz DDR4 CL15 1T
GTX970 1500/8000

Same test method

CRYSIS3 HT OFF
