I had a thread going about what I'm about to say but I screwed up a lot of the information by mixing up Cinebench r15 and r20.

Current settings is 52 all core with 1.36v load vr vout voltage. Boost at 56/56/55/54/54/53/53/52.

So, I had a 5.2ghz all core overclock at 1.4v vr vout load voltage. High? Yes. However, I managed to squeeze out 400mhz extra to get 5.6ghz single core performance at the same voltage settings. I recon that anyone with a 5ghz overclock will be able to get 5.4ghz at the same voltage for single threaded workloads and everything inbetween for less than all core workloads. I also ran a quick stress test just for this post via Intel Burn Test on one thread, I usually run Prime95 without AVX for several hours and IBT as well with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 threads enabled to test turboboost stability.

Also that is 570+ in Cinebench for single core.

Take CPU-Z with a pinch of salt on the Z390 platform. If you measured from the socket directly, you'd probably see a Vcore of between 1.2 to 1.25v depending on your LLC AI AC/DC settings. Check VOUT on HWINFO64, see what voltage it reports.

I tried to do what you did, I can't get any free additional bins past my all core frequency for non-all core workloads unless I increase voltage and lower llc. Only issue is that i'm already using about as much voltage as you ><. Very nice chip you have there .

You can't even do two cores at x1 above normal all core frequency? I have my settings for normal ambient here: https://imgur.com/a/iYzBajm

I am also on an overclocking discord where someone is testing 4 cores at 200mhz above their base frequency for their 9900k at their regular overclock voltage and it's going well. You should at least be able to get something unless settings are funky.

Nope, I tried 2 cores at one bin above without adding any extra voltage and i kept getting internal cpu errors in hwinfo64 before I even got the chance to stress test haha. Adding voltage makes the errors not happen. My chip is doodoo i guess? lol Thank you for sharing the settings!

Couldn't resist ... running 5.2 5.2 5.2 5.1 5.1 5.0 5.0 5.0 / 4.7 atm with AC / DC loadline = 80/80 and LLC = Low with Vcore = Auto

Those are the ratio's turbo boost is set to. Didn't set Turbo per core control. That is still disabled.

Will do some testing this weekend, but no errors in HWiNFO till now ... ran a couple of cinebench runs in single core and multicore but that's all I did last night. Ran without problems.

Edit:
Came home from work, still no WHEA errors ... so I thought, let's try something higher ... with the same voltage settings.

Did a Cinebench R20 run with these settings (all background programs open like a normal boot and cinebench was on normal priority) ... scored 535 points ... have no idea how good that is for 5.2 single core ... any comparison? Anybody?

First time OCer

Hi,

I have a msi meg z390 ace, corsair 150i cooler, 64GB ram (4x16). I am trying to OC for the first time. I did the minimal bios changes:

xmp, cpu ratio 50, cpu ratio mode dynamic, ring ratio 47, cpu core voltage 1.30v to 1.32V, Intel C-state disabled

I have tested memory with memtest overnight in xmp mode with no cpu OC. Passed.

I am using hwinfo64, prime95, and cinebench r20 to OC.

Here are my results:

Standard plus memory at XMP:
Cinebench R20 : 4826, 4841, 4844 ~60deg
Prime95 w/AVX2 10m : max 77deg

5.0GHz, 1.30V plus memory at XMP:
Cinebench R20 : 5192, 5165, 5187 ~86deg
Prime95 w/AVX2 10m : FAILED (windows froze)

5.0GHz, 1.31V plus memory at XMP:
Cinebench R20 : 5171, 5159, 5180 ~90deg
Prime95 w/AVX2 10m : FAILED (1 worker had rounding error after 7m) (saw thermal throttling at about same time)

5.0GHz, 1.32V plus memory at XMP:
Cinebench R20 : 5151, 5174, 5166 ~92deg
Prime95 w/AVX2 10m : PASSED, (Ring/Core throttling after 7m, CPU package 100deg)

Looking for advice from this forum as it looks like it's filled with the best of the best. I'd like to know how to fully test stability from here and any other advice you can offer.
