I just found this 5950HQ that has been converted to desktop somehow and i did see a linus tech video about the 4720hq and it worked perfectly fine. But this would be a fairly decent replacement for my failing 4770K but for obvious reason im pretty sketched out by this whole thing, they claim its overclockable but i mean how could it be the MP is locked isn't it? anyone here ever test one?

Linus Tech Tips did a video on it and they had a success with it overall, take a look at his channel.

i seen his 4720HQ video but nothing on this 5950hq, i dont know too much about broadwell but the seller claims its faster than a 6700k which im very doubtful of.

Yeah he only did the one, not seen another for the 5950HQ. As for it being better than the 6700k, pass on that one. Your best bet is to hit up some reviews.

4770k's go for 100-140 US$ on ebay quite often.

How much is this mobile chip going for?

If its a chance it wont work, why bother?

Now if you have the budget to experiment, GO FOR IT!! that sort of thing is neato

I agree with mattliston and I have the budget and 5775c supporting hardware to experiment so I nabbed one. When it finally shows up I will post my results from this top binned 5775c with limited functionality to some unknown extent in the 5775c club thread. Also $165
Thanks for the heads up.

I received one in late Feb and tested it. Max multiplier of 44x can be set in BIOS. I was able to get my sample stable at 4.2GHz with 1.353v under a Thermaltake AXP-200 Muscle cooler. The eDRAM also works fine -- it benchmarks at 14,800-14,900 in WinRAR so the default speed might be a little less than the 5775C. While I as able to overclock the eDRAm on the 5775c to 2200MH, any overclock on the 5950hq did not stick (eDRAM gets disabled and WinRAR speeds go down to about 9,700.) FYI -- I did have a discrete GPU in order to enable the eDRAM as L4.

I am selling it in the market, if anyone is interested in a cheap 5775c alternative

Indeed I do. It's the Asus Maximus VII Gene. Worked on both 3003 and 3503 beta BIOS.

Then that's where your issue with eDRAM comes from. Maximus VII boards are bugged to hell when it comes to supporting Broadwells.
