High temp. Cracked die 9900k?

Had this cpu for a month or 2 and noticed today that core #4 is like 20c higher than the rest on idle. Looks like a cracked die?

I reseated the kraken x62 several times with new paste and same results. rekt?

I meant cracked solder. Guess I'll delid it tomorrow and see what's going on under there. Difference is 35c today on core 4.

Y'all wanted solder here you have it .

Try running a stress test like p95 or realbench and see how your temps are. If the temp differentiation between lowest and highest is like ~20C, then something is wrong.

Have you tried spinning the CPU on a flat glass surface like this video?

Cracked die is worst case scenario and a bit rare, but definitely possible.

Some dies have cores of different temperatures but usually not over 10C difference. Doesn't matter what TIM you use.
If it's a stock CPU without mods, and it's over 10C... just RMA it already.

Soldering works fine, Intel simply forgot how to do it anymore
It has worked before fine and it's working fine on all AMD CPUs.
Intel's IHS and TIM jobs even with paste are pretty bad. That's why many people go delid it to fix the stupid design/manufacturing errors. IHS too high, poor TIM, poor IHS flatness, ...

Did the IHS spinning test but didn't spin.

Think I'll RMA it instead since this cpu only does 5ghz at 1.4v Maybe I'll get lucky with a good chip after RMA. Just not looking forward to the downtime.

Hi,
Try express rma if an option.
Bad thing would be you'd have to pay for another and wait for a refund.

Not a good idea, because warranty will be voided and this didn't seem like a good clocking sample anyway.
