NEWB Here Attempting to OC i-9900 unlocked PLEASE HELP

*Total newb here making my first leap into overclocking*

Intel Core i9-9900k Unlocked Processor

Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero Motherboard
32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200 RAM
EVGA AIO Closed Loop Liquid Cooler 240mm Rad
Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2070

Seasonic FocusGold 750FX

Booting Windows 10 from a WD Blue m.2 1tb SSD

Computer runs solid stock. No issues whatsoever.

XMP is enabled to achieve 3200 RAM speeds

In BIOS I get a good prediction: Sil Quality 111% Cooler PTS 171 but I cant boot into any of the OC profiles(ai profile which is supposed to make adjustments on its own or the preconfigured gaming OC profiles) without windows crashing at login screen or sometimes before it even reaches login screen.

I read some reviews about this mobo not being an adequate supplier of power for overclocking but others said that it was. Will swap boards if need be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Curious as to what I am doing wrong. The only thing I can think of is that my power supply isnt strong enough? GPU running at stock settings.

So I don’t have your exact CPU, 9700K here, but I do have that mobo. If you’re still seeing SIL quality then you haven’t updated to the newest bios because that was removed. I found my OC efforts were more stable after updating.

Also, I have learned to stay away from the EZ overclocker on this board. It will hardly boot into windows when applied for me because it is attempting to set the core clock to 5.45 GHz all because of the cooling loop I have it on.

I have the same CPU and mobo. WhiskyWarrior is 100% correct, update your bios to latest (not beta) for doing anything else. You'll lose all BIOS settings when you update so no point do anything before that.

BIOS settings are transferable across UEFI builds now. If necessary one can save profiles to a usb drive to reload post flash.

If instability is experienced when XMP is enabled it may be necessary to tune VCCIO & VCCSA voltages.

Try Maximus Tweak Mode 2 also.

It seems you are starting with 5,2 oc which may be too much for your chip. Start with 5 GHz following one of the many overclocking guides done on asus z390 boards. Use bios 0601 or newer.

new rig 2019:
Intel 9900k >5ghz | Asus Maximus XI Gene | Eisbaer 360 LT (custom loop in progress) | bequiet! Dark Base 700 white edition | RAM: 16B team group Nighthawk 4000mhz | Gigabyte RTX 2070 OC white | Storage: Intel Optane 900p 280GB + Samsung 970 evo plus 1TB + WD Red 3TB | Corsair HX850i | Benq BL3200PT 1440p | 1Gbit ftth |
