Seeking Advice on X299 Platform

So, I've had my 7900X for a while now, and haven't overclocked a CPU since my 4770K. So, I'm rather rusty and need a refresher.

Right now, until I get some money saved up for a custom loop, I have a Fractal Design S36 360mm AIO with the radiator mounted to the top, with the fans in a pull configuration. This is inside of a Dark Base Pro 900 case from be quiet!.

My 7900X was delidded by Silicon Lottery and they reported back saying that after their testing, it was found stable at 4.6 GHz at 1,225 V-core, -3 AVX offset and -5 AVX512 offset.

So, I just use my computer for some video editing, gaming, streaming, and other general uses. The reason for this post is I'm trying to pick your brain and ask what software you use for testing your overclock to make sure it is stable, and for how long you test it for with each program, respectively?

Any other advice and opinions are appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

I usually just use realbench since I don't stress my boxes very heavily during my typical use and I've not had any problems for myself with only using that. I used to use prime and FAH and such back in the day on my SR-2 boards but don't now.

Hi,
Post some images of the build

4.6 isn't terrible most 7900x's can get 4.8 pretty easily if temps are controllable

Realbench yep an all around test

I like Blender and it's free demo classroom rendering file to test the avx offset is working well at 4.6 as you say with avx 3 that would drop your 4.6 to 4.3 that's not great 4.5 is my usual target for avx drop from what ever clock 4.8 with avx 3.

Otherwise benchmarks after testing is best

3DMark time spy/ fire strike and there's a host of others.

I don't know about 4.8... That 4.6 is more in line with "most". I have a chart on my phone that SL posted with all their numbers from their binning which showed what % of chips could do what clock and so on. This is how it broke down

4.4 @1.2 100%
4.5 @1.212 99%
4.6 @1.225 90%
4.7 @1.237 47%
4.8 @1.250 17%
all with AVX -3 and -5 Offsets

Hi,
SL only has chips for a short time
Not to mention uses for the most part auto voltages
I believe they started using prime95 later not sure any of the 79.. series was used with it or not.
I've never used prime95 only realbench and like said blender which is realistic work load still 100% usage using avx shots to confirm avx offset is actually used and working

Rest is just good old fashion benchmarks and normal gaming.... usage.

What ever SL bins the chip can likely do more with tweaking they don't do.

SL is also tight lipped about the hardware they use to bin chips.

Hi,
Give you an idea I did not buy a binned sl chip only delid service plus redid it myself after they said high temps were normal

I understand what you are saying, but using your one chip as an example for everyones isn't proper. I've handled more than most people and I've seen about the same results as SL. He does or did a 24hr Realbench stress test with those results, so thats about as stable as you are going to get. You cant use auto voltage and get the Vcore like that because it will fluctuate depending on the core speeed/temp/etc.

Hi,
So these are manual core voltages

Most I've ran across are using adaptive + auto and Additional turbo voltage at those numbers or similar a lot different than manual.

Back when I had my 7900X in my sig system, I had a custom loop on it and ran a stable 4.7Ghz with an AVX offset of -5 I beleive. Out of box, it was a NIGHTMARE to keep cool, a beastly hot chip. However since yours has been delidded and had the works, I'd expect you to hold 4.7Ghz with ease when you have a custom loop. Hopefully won't need such a steep AVX offset either.

Attached a 12hr Prime95 blend test. (Non-AVX).
