9900k Direct Die

I received my OC Frame today from Der8bauer. I currently have a Thermatake Floe Riing 360mm AIO cooler. Is the mounting height on that cooler adjustable in order to get the correct pressure on the socket? Or would I have to come up with some work around? TIA

How did it turn out? I plan to use a bit of normal TIM on the die and mount the AiO just to see how the TIM spreads, should give an idea about mounting pressure.

'Could' confirm, board gave up the ghost in 2 days though, lost 1 mem slot. Didn't overtighten anything, probably bad luck. RAM and CPU tested OK. Protip - with EVGA if you're not the first owner, stay away, their new rules make rma pretty much impossible now (they want you to write down a sales contract with the previous owner and negate the availablility of the original invoice).

I do have EVGA, but I am original owner. So it sounds like even with the frame, pressure variability is still an issue. Are only the successful lucky few reporting in?

You should test to make sure you didn't damage the CPU by trying a different processor. I killed memory slots on my 3770K when using EK precision mount with naked Ivy and it was the CPU that lost the slots not the board.

I was using the stock AiO mount, just with M3 screws with springs, carefully measured not to overtighten the socket.
CPU runs perfectly fine in my ASUS and the EVGA goes into the garbage bin. I'm suspect those fragile SMD mounted RAM slots, they don't seem to have any support whatsoever and only rely on solder balls underneath. Crack one and it's game over.

Thanks for posting this. I just received my kit from Rockit and will be deliding and direct die cooling mine next week. Looking forward to it but a bit hesitant as it's my first time.

Don't be scared to delid it, it's very easy. Just turn the screw in the delid tool until you really feel a lot of force and leave it for a minute, then repeat. It didn't even make a 'pop' sound.
