i9 9820X Hit a Voltage/OC wall?
Hi all, I have successfully stability tested 4.5Ghz on all 10 cores with HT ON using 1.253v and this is right at the limit of what my Corsair H150i Pro with push pull fans, in a room with a 15c ambient can handle under AIDA64/Realbench/Prime95/HWBOT X265 testing.
To even last more than 15 seconds under stress load with 4.6+, I need to use over 1.31v and obviously I can't sustain testing due to exceeding thermal limits.
Would you say that its sensible to call this a day and live with the rock solid 4.5Ghz, or should I spend £500+ on a high end water loop with a 480 rad and see if I can go further with no guarantee that the chip will hold any higher?
The fact that I need such a large voltage increase to even launch AIDA64 and the likes, is this a sign that I have reached the sensible limit and im at the point where the required power/heat to acheive even 100Mhz more is just not worth it unless im a benchmarker with LN2 on hand?
