"Intel Tuning Protection Plan" is a JOKE!

Tried redeeming my "Intel Tuning Protection Plan" extended warranty this past week! What an absolute NIGHTMARE of a process. Here's the short of it:

1) Intel REQUIRES the following before they will even begin to process my warranty request: "High definition photos of the top (IHS) of the CPU and the bottom (pads) of the CPU." They also require "High definition photos of my motherboards CPU socket to ensure the problem is not due to bent pins."

-If I provide all of this information, Intel will be GENEROUS enough to refund the $20 I paid for the Intel Tuning Protection Plan.
This is the only option they've offered me, because....

2) Intel has NO 9th Generation Processors in stock for warranty service - and "there is currently no estimated arrival time. one month at the absolute shortest" according to Intel support! NOT one month to receive a new CPU but one month simply to begin the RMA process!

Silence Redefined!

Its the same with normal RMA at the moment as well
Building PC for a friend. PC crashes at stock with any stress test that uses all the cores.
Trouble shooting it and have isolated it to 2 cores.

Local store I bought chip from didnt have any replacement stock so sent me to contact Intel directly.
9900K, Tried to RMA. Wanted stupid ammount of details and photos to try and put it on me as the fault.
Nit picked that my ram isnt supported, Guy I was talking to was really trying to convinse me it has 2 faulty cores because of the RAM I used damaged it.
Went though a few different support people, Ended up with basically 2 answers. RAM damaged it and its not covered or they need it to be sent in and will "maybe" be contacted in a few months after they have tested it.

Only choice it left me was I took it back to local store. Took a print out of the consumer garantees act. Forced them to give me a refund.
Going to build a Ryzen rig for him in a week. After this im not going to build rigs for mates any more its just not worth the hassle since its wasted hours of my time over last few weeks.

I have had that kind of experience before, Having some guy who clearly does not know what he is doing or is following a very ill thought up script stating that using a product not on QVL *Somehow* has damaged the Chip. Laughable really, I guess the RAM jumped out of the slot and beat up the CPU right ? lol.

I've noticed this more and more with "protection plans" and aftermarket "warranties". They make is so difficult or put such ridiculous requirements out there that basically you are handing them free money for these policies.

An example; my credit card supposedly has rental car insurance. I submit a claim for a broken windshield that I paid on the drop-off and submit all the required paperwork from my end. Doesn't suffice. The RENTAL CAR company must submit quotes, repair bills, all this extra BS that they are not going to do. Why would they waste their time sending all of this to my credit card when they gain nothing from it?

Basically the agreements/policies are built to make you go away. They don't actually pay out anything. It is a total scam, welcome to American business.

Hi,
With all of the delidding on the 87..k and 79...x series chips you'd think Intel would be happy campers seeing all those chips were 3 year warranty voided by buyers instead of returned as thermal defective out the box.
I really do regret not returning to retailer within 14 days of purchase skylake-x I was one of many enablers of Intel bs assembly practices

This warranties shenanigans is going on everywhere, be it warranties or insurance, same thing. Once it's not covered by law you're screwed and at mercy of who's issued the warranty/insurance. They try all they can to deny your claim, because that's profit for them.
Intel alone is a bad choice to begin with right now. Don't repeat and get something else, at least now there is another option.

Oh wow that stinks. Sorry you didn't have a good experience.

I warrantied a G3258 cpu that I fried on a 5.0ghz @ 1.5v run. Intel quickly processed the warranty application and once things were in motion they overnighted me a brand new CPU that was 2 generations out of production. At no extra cost to me and on a $50 part.
