Hi,
2 core upgrades are nearly never really worth it
Only appreciable upgrade is pigeon poop or solder plus two cores is it worth the extra money for two cores and a Intel three year warranty because obviously the 8700k needs a delid

9900K P0 soldering is not that good. Still need delid for higher volt. However R0 is awesome , my friend delid his 9900KF R0 and saw only 3C drop. Not worth it at all.

Part 2 9900K 5Ghz vs 8700K 5Ghz

When set at the same clock there is almost no different except CIV 6. Probably need lower settings or 2080 Ti to see any meaningful different.

Some games results are not comparable to previous test due to different settings (try to remove some GPU bottleneck in these games but still no success).

1.ACO reduce settings from ultra high to very high.
2.SOTTR change DX11 to DX12. Reduce settings from highest to high preset.
3.Witcher 3 reduce settings from ultra to high settings without hairworks.

As you stated, if you're going to run max settings, you need a more powerful gpu to not let it be the bottleneck.

How have you managed to set 5000Mhz in your 8700k and show in MSI AB overlay as 5000Mhz and not as 4995Mhz like mine and some other I saw on the internet? Not related to the comparison the question, but I was just wondering haha.
