New card, a no brainer actually. It can't deal against 9900k obviously, but if you treat it with fast memory and overlock its cache then it easily does at least 9700k level. Next step would be getting 3200/3400MHz CL14 set of RAM (think Haswell-E can't take faster memory) as a cheapest upgrade, then new platform.

Hi,
x99 is good for 3200C14 op doesn't have the speed of his corsair memory listed probably isn't worth the costs of b-die though for another 32gb kit really no sense in trying to go higher than 3200C14 either on x99 one could oc the memory just as easy.

That is IF the memory will let themself overclock to 3200C14/C15 first. With early DDR4 it's not so obvious.

As long as it's running in quad channel which is what you want for that CPU, then it's plenty good enough 14CL or 16CL.

...5960X and decent quad channel RAM can hit 'at least' 3400 DDR4 (depending on IMC). That said, system in pic 'only' hits 3200 CL14 - 14 - 14 w/ 32 GB because it is currently running an oc'ed 5960X in an Asus X99 E-WS (instead of the prior Asus ROG Extreme V, with 3400 MHz RAM). RAM is 32GB DDR4 Trident-Z RGB B-Die @ nominal 3866.

...much better off to get yourself a juicy 2080 Super, or even a 2080 TI - and enjoy 1440p+ !
